Charlotte Pommer: Resistance fighter and female pioneer of German anatomy

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines the biography and unique case of Charlotte Pommer (1914–2004), the only anatomist documented to have left the field during the Nazi period after encountering the regime's victims on the dissection table. While she is known for her resistance activities, newly presented documentation reveals her role as the provisional ...

Combined effect of increasing the post‐reformer temperature and adding red mud as a secondary catalyst in the thermocatalytic reforming of digestate

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract This work studies the combined effect of increasing the post‐reformer temperature and introducing red mud as a support catalyst in the thermocatalytic reforming (TCR®) of digestate. The TCR® method, developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT (abbreviated as Fraunhofer UMSICHT), is an extension

Comprehensive Peptide Profiling Reveals the Influence of Streptococcus Thermophilus, Lactobacillus Delbrueckii Subsp. bulgaricus, and Endogenous Milk Proteases on the Hydrolysis of Milk Proteins During Early‐Stage Lactic Acid Fermentation

open access: yesChemFoodChem, EarlyView.
Untargeted peptide profiling investigates how S. thermophilus, Lb. bulgaricus, and endogenous milk enzymes impact proteolysis during early‐stage milk fermentation. ≥ 3000 identified peptides show the strongest influence of LB on the peptide profile and number of bioactive peptides. Shorter peptides are mostly formed by LB and hydrolyzed by ST.

Evaluation of Capacitive Markers Fabricated by 3D Printing, Laser Cutting and Prototyping

open access: yesInventions, 2018
With Tangible User Interfaces, the computer user is able to interact in a fundamentally different and more intuitive way than with usual 2D displays. By grasping real physical objects, information can also be conveyed haptically, i.e., the user not only ...

A Selectfluor‐based Polonovski Rearrangement Leading to Novel Entities for Synthetic and Medicinal Applications

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Starting from carboxylic acids and Selectfluor‐derivatives, functionalized diazabicyclooctanes can be obtained via a novel Polonovski‐type rearrangement proceeding under mild reaction conditions. Besides their use in organic synthesis the unique structure and reactivity of the rearrangement products enables applications in medicinal chemistry ...

Effects of Trimethoprim on Three Previously Proposed Putative Biomarkers for OCT2/MATE‐Mediated Renal Drug‐Drug Interactions in Healthy Volunteers

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Regulatory agencies request the assessment of the potential of new drugs to cause transporter‐mediated drug‐drug interactions (DDI). This assessment can be improved by integrating endogenous biomarkers during drug development. Regarding the renal excretion of drugs such as metformin, the organic cation transporter (OCT) 2 and multidrug and toxin ...

Magnetic Supraparticles as Identifiers in Single‐Layer Lithium‐Ion Battery Pouch Cells

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
As an alternative to externally applied optical identifiers, magnetic supraparticles (SPs) can be used for contactless identification of lithium‐ion battery pouch cells via magnetic particle spectroscopy. This study validated the integration and detection of magnetic markers in three model scenarios.
