Sliding Guide System Concept for 3D Motion of the Hip Joint in Walking Assist Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
The human hip joint has three degrees of freedom. However, most current walking assist robots only support flexion–extension. As the human femoral head is almost a perfect sphere, the sliding guide system employs two guide plates that contour spherical surfaces.

Large Language Model‐Embedded Intelligent Robotic Scrub Nurse with Multimodal Input for Enhancing Surgeon–Robot Interaction

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A large language model (LLM)‐powered multimodal robotic scrub nurse control framework is proposed for enhancing human–robot interaction. Inside, the vision module gives out instrument class, location, and occlusion relationship. Speech module captures and converts user's speech commands.

Testing key tenets of pyro‐ecophysiology: Indicators of drought response in relation to shoot flammability

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Relationships between flammability and drought tolerance influence vegetation dynamics during fires. A goal of the emerging subdiscipline of pyro‐ecophysiology is to identify ecophysiological traits that determine live fuel flammability, but empirical studies of these relationships are rare.

“I never realized how hard recovery is.” A quasi‐experimental evaluation of a youth participatory action research project for opioid prevention

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Youth participatory action research (YPAR) has been effectively used for substance use prevention. Yet, YPAR has not been evaluated for opioids, which negatively impact individuals and communities across the United States. The current study evaluated an opioid‐focused YPAR project.
