Nuts

open access: yesArt/Research International: A Transdisciplinary Journal, 2023
The following fairy tale is the creative output from an arts-based autoethnographic inquiry created in partial fulfillment for my Master of Arts degree. Inspired by the doctoral work of Lindsay Eales (2018), my main research objective was to challenge, (re)imagine, and transform conventional dance spaces into spaces that were more accessible for Mad ...

Einstein-Born-Infeld on Taub-NUT Spacetime in 2k+2 Dimensions

open access: yes, 2009
We wish to construct solutions of Taub-NUT spacetime in Einstein-Born-Infeld gravity in even dimensions. Since Born-Infeld theory is a nonlinear electrodynamics theory, in leads to nonlinear differential equations.

FiN‐Kiri: Fabric‐Based Inflatable Kirigami Actuator for Multimodal Soft Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study introduces a type of inflatable fabric‐based kirigami actuator capable of performing bending motion. The actuator is utilized as soft grippers, a crawling robot and a swimming robot. The crawling robot demonstrated extraordinary motion capabilities, such as moving forward, turning and navigating a narrow tunnel.

‘May Joy’ Peach

open access: yesHortScience
‘May Joy’ trees are moderately vigorous and semispreading in growth habit. Leaf glands are reniform. Trees have large showy pink self-fertile flowers and require ∼650 chill hours (below 7.2 °C or 45°F) to break bud at Byron.

Ultrasound Modulation of Visual Circuits in Mice Independent of Auditory Confound

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, Qiu et al. found that low‐intensity ultrasound can directly activate sparse ultrasound‐sensitive neurons (UNs) in the primary visual cortex (V1) of deafened mice. The proportion of these sparse UNs is pressure‐dependent. Furthermore, ultrasound modulates visual circuitry with distinct excitatory and inhibitory effects.

A Note on the Instability of Lorentzian Taub-NUT-Space

open access: yes, 2006
I show that there are no SU(2)-invariant (time-dependent) tensorial perturbations of Lorentzian Taub-NUT space. It follows that the spacetime is unstable at the linear level against generic perturbations.

Chemical Upcycling of Polyphenylene Sulfide at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Poly(phenylene sulfide) (PPS) is a semi‐crystalline super engineering plastic with exceptional properties. An iron‐photocatalyzed strategy is reported for chemical upcycling of PPS plastics at room temperature using 1,2‐dichloroethane. The method demonstrates remarkable efficiency across diverse PPS resins and post‐consumer composites, even within ...
