Primary nutrient balance as a new tool to evaluate nutrient utilization [PDF]
A new tool, utilization rate of primary nutrients, is introduced to evaluate parallel nutrient load and efficiency of nutrient utilization. It is independent of the quality and quantity of final products and therefore allows comparison between any ...

Human alteration of the global nitrogen and phosphorus soil balances for the period 1970-2050 [PDF]
The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment scenarios for 2000 to 2050 describe contrasting future developments in agricultural land use under changing climate. Differences are related to the total crop and livestock production and the efficiency of nutrient use

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Data for life cycle assessment of legume biorefining for alcohol [PDF]
Benchmarking the environmental sustainability of alcohol produced from legume starch against alcohol produced from cereal grains requires considering of crop production, nutrient cycling and use of protein-rich co-products via life cycle assessment. This

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

An Evaluation of comparative effects of feeding synthetic and herbal choline on broiler performance, nutrient balance and serum activities [PDF]
An experiment in broiler chickens was conducted to evaluate comparative efficacy of herbal and synthetic choline on body weight, weight gain, FCR, nutrient balance serum activities and economic benefit for 35 days on deep litter. A significant (P<0.05)

Interannual dynamics of available potassium in a long-term fertilization experiment
Dynamics of the plant-available potassium (K) has been studied in polyfactorial long-term fertilization experiments since 1980. The fertilization scheme includes 10 combinations of K muriate and farmyard manure application rates (annually 0-230 kg K/ha).

Millennium Ecosystem Assessment Scenario drivers (1970-2050): Climate and hydrological alterations [PDF]
This study was carried out to support and enhance a series of global studies assessing contemporary and future changes in nutrient export from watersheds (Global Nutrient Export from Watersheds (NEWS)).

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
