Lysosome‐targeted acidic nanoparticles based on a biodegradable poly(ethylene tetrafluorosuccinate‐co‐succinate) copolymer are engineered to restore impaired lysosomal acidification through pH‐responsive intracellular degradation. Localized acid release enhances autophagic proteolysis, reduces α‐synuclein accumulation, and preserves dopaminergic neuron

Digestate management in Flanders: nutrient removal versus nutrient recovery
Intensive livestock production combined with limited availability of land for manure disposal and fertilisation restrictions by the EU-legislation make Flanders (Belgium) a 100% Nitrate Vulnerable Zone. The Flemish Manure Decree has been implemented in order to take measures against nitrate and phosphate pollution in water, resulting from the produced ...

Effects of fire on composition, biomass, and nutrients in oak scrub vegetation on John F. Kennedy Space Center, Florida [PDF]
Four stands of oak scrub two, four, eight, and 25 years since fire were sampled with permanent 15 m line transects. Percent cover by species was determined. Plant samples were analyzed for a variety of substances.

An Edible H2O2 Biosensor for Gastrointestinal Metabolites and Peroxidase Enzyme Quantification
We present an edible biosensor for gastric fluid analysis that integrates a caffeic acid–horseradish peroxidase redox system into an edible electrolyte‐gated transistor. The device enables rapid, low‐volume detection of H2O2 and, with minimal modification, metabolites and enzyme activity in simulated gastrointestinal conditions.

Application of hydrogen-oxidizing bacteria for nutrient remediation and nutrient recovery
The suitability of hydrogen-oxidizing bacteria (HOB) as microbial protein producers was the focus of the earliest studies on these organisms and, in the current scenario of climate change, remains a relevant topic. Their ability to use hydrogen as a single electron donor translates into the possibility of developing new technologies based on renewable ...
