Understanding the Morpho-Anatomical, Physiological, and Functional Response of Sweet Basil to Isosmotic Nitrate to Chloride Ratios

open access: yesBiology, 2020
Sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) is a leafy green with a short-production cycle that is emerging as a model species among aromatic plants. Modulating the mineral composition of the nutrient solution has proved to be a valuable tool to uncover the ...

What is the optimal fertigation start time and frequency in lettuce seedlings?

open access: yesBioscience Journal, 2023
Although lettuce is one of the most important vegetable crops cultivated in Brazil, producers conduct seedling production empirically, as there are no published reports on the optimal start time and management strategy for seedling fertigation.

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Uptake of nutrients by lettuce on NFT with controlled composition of the nutrient solution.

open access: yesNetherlands Journal of Agricultural Science, 1991
An automatically-controlled recirculating NFT system was developed, consisting of a growth unit and a measuring and control unit. It is described together with some basic growth and uptake models. Results are presented of a preliminary experiment with the lettuce cultivar Sitonia (using manual control and nutrient dosage).

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

THE EFFECT OF NUTRIENT SOLUTIONS ON YIELD AND MACRONUTRIENT STATUS OF GREENHOUSE TOMATO (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) GROWN IN AEROPONIC AND ROCKWOOL CULTURE WITH OR WITHOUT RECIRCULATION OF NUTRIENT SOLUTION

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2014
Aeroponics creates possibilities to cultivate plants without soil or substrate, obtaining the optimal yield, saving water and nutrient solutions and do not contaminate the environment.
