EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Medical nutrition therapy in patients with severe malnutrition, unresectable gastric cancer and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG)

open access: yes
The yearly burden of stomach cancer is expected to rise to 1.8 million new cases and 1.3 million deaths by 2040. These indicate rises of almost 63% and 66%, respectively, from 2020.

Integrative oncology along with systemic cancer therapies in advanced bladder and prostate cancer: metabolic optimization guiding the shift from palliative care to clinical remission – a case report

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
Bladder cancer, particularly in older adults, poses significant therapeutic challenges due to its high recurrence rates, metastatic potential, and the toxicity associated with standard treatments.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Enteral nutrition with medium-chain triglyceride compared to total parenteral nutrition in patient with chylothorax: an evidence based case report

open access: yes
Introduction: Chylothorax is associated with longer length of stay, higher morbidity, mortality, and hospitalization cost. The main principle of chylothorax therapy is to reduce the chylous flow.

Refeeding Syndrome in Elderly Individuals: Evaluation of a Series of Five Cases [PDF]

open access: yesGeriatrics, Gerontology and Aging
INTRODUCTION: Undernourishment is a common health problem among elderly individuals, and its prevalence grows among frail patients, which makes nutritional support a priority, especially in acute diseases.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.
