Periphery Scaling Challenges for NVM

2008 International Symposium on VLSI Technology, Systems and Applications (VLSI-TSA), 2008
In each generation of non-volatile memory (NVM) technology, higher periphery transistor density is desired, but the operating voltage requirement tends to stay constant or rise. Technology constraints to deliver fixed voltage scaling are considered, including Lg scaling, contact size reduction and BVD (Drain breakdown voltage) improvement.

Statistical Monitoring for NVM Write

2018 IEEE 24th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems (ICPADS), 2018
Emerging non-volatile memory (NVM) technologies promise persistence, byte-addressability, low power consumption and high density. The potential of NVM implies that it can improve persistence performance and availability for high-performance computing tasks in data centers.

Hardware-Assisted Transaction Processing: NVM

2018
A transaction is a demarcated sequence of application operations, for which the following properties are guaranteed by the underlying transaction processing system (TPS): atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability (ACID). Transactions are therefore a general abstraction, provided by TPS that simplifies application development by relieving ...

NVM Way Allocation Scheme to Reduce NVM Writes for Hybrid Cache Architecture in Chip-Multiprocessors

IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, 2017
Hybrid cache architectures (HCAs) containing both SRAM and non-volatile memory (NVM) have been proposed to overcome the disadvantages of NVM-based cache architecture. Most previous works have concentrated on managing write-intensive blocks by storing these blocks to SRAM to reduce the number of the write operations to NVM.

Emerging nonvolatile memory (NVM) technologies

2015 45th European Solid State Device Research Conference (ESSDERC), 2015
Significant progress has been made recently in emerging nonvolatile memories (NVMs). This paper will discuss advantages and challenges of several promising NVM devices, as well as their potential applications. Changing market trends toward mobile, IoT, and data-centric applications create new opportunities for NVMs.

Introduction to NVM Devices

2015
Since the development of the first computer, the data storage has been a major procedure and the storage units are an intricate component of any computational machine. Data storage mainly includes the storage of the software program, the storage of data that are processed in real-time as well as the storage of information that can be recalled from the ...

NVM aware MariaDB database system

2015 IEEE Non-Volatile Memory System and Applications Symposium (NVMSA), 2015
MariaDB is a community-developed fork of the MySQL relational database management system and originally designed and implemented to use traditional spinning disk architecture. Now that devices with Non-Volatile memory (NVM) technologies are available, MariaDB addresses this challenge by adding support for NVM devices and introduces NVM Compression ...

Driving applications for ferroelectric NVMS

Integrated Ferroelectrics, 2001
Abstract Ferroelectric Memories compare favourably with other memories because they are non volatile and easy to program/erase. The main challenge to their widespread commercialization has been lack of successful and cost effective integration with CMOS technologies.

Data Sensing in Emerging NVMs

2017
Emerging memories currently in development in the electronics industry have in common the fact that the signal to be detected is a change of electrical resistance of the memory material, even though the way in which this resistance variation is obtained is different for each of the technologies considered.
