Laboratory Colonization of Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) marajoara (Diptera: Culicidae) by Induced Copulation

Journal of Medical Entomology, 2015
Malaria is a serious public health problem, the control of which involves actions directed against its vector, mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles Meigan, 1818. The study of insect biology, ecology, and behavior is simplified when these insects are maintained at the laboratory.

Phylogenetic analysis of the GST family in Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) darlingi

Acta Tropica, 2014
Anopheles darlingi Root, 1926 and Anopheles gambiae (Diptera: Culicidae) are the most important human malaria vectors in South America and Africa, respectively. The two species are estimated to have diverged 100 million years ago. Studies on the phylogenetics and evolution of gene sequences, such as glutathione S-transferase (GST) in disease ...

Variable egg development among Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus ): control by mating?

Physiological Entomology, 1994
Abstract. Among ten species of neotropical malaria vectors the frequency of egg development by virgin females fed both sugar and blood varied from 23% to 100% and was positively correlated with their mean fecundity.
