Carboxymethyl-imidazolium O-vanillin Schiff base grafted into NH2-tagged MIL-101 (Cr) for effective removal of cupric ions from aqueous effluents

open access: yesEnvironmental science and pollution research international
A novel adsorbent (MIL-CMIVSB) was fabricated by modification of H2N-MIL-101(Cr) with carboxymethyl-imidazolium O-vanillin Schiff base. The MIL-CMIVSB’s physicochemical characteristics were examined using the pertinent characterization methods.

Impact of the T296S mutation in P450 GcoA for aryl-O-demethylation: a QM/MM study

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry
Lignin, a complex plant cell wall component, holds promise as a renewable aromatic carbon feedstock. p-Vanillin is a key product of lignin depolymerization and a precursor of protocatechuic acid (PCA) that has tremendous potential for biofuel production.

Bis[2-(benzylamino)pyridine-κN](2-formyl-6-methoxyphenolato-κ2O1,O6)(nitrato-κ2O,O′)nickel(II)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2009
In the title compound, [Ni(C8H7O3)(NO3)(C12H12N2)2], the asymmetric unit contains a NiII atom, two molecules of 2-(benzylamino)pyridine, a molecule of deprotonated o-vanillin (3-methoxysalicylaldehydate) and a bidentate nitrate anion.

Vanillin reduction in the biosynthetic pathway of capsiate, a non-pungent component of Capsicum fruits, is catalyzed by cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Capsicum fruits synthesize capsaicin from vanillylamine, which is produced from vanillin in a reaction catalyzed by a putative aminotransferase (pAMT).

Bioorthogonal Photoactivation of 2‐Nitrobenzyl Caged Doxorubicin Anticancer Prodrugs on Gold Nanostars

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bioorthogonal chemistry was applied to intracellularly photoactivate Doxorubicin (Dox) using gold nanostars (AuNSt) and near‐infrared (NIR) light. Two prodrugs were used: one photoactivatable, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl carbamate (proDox1) and another photolabile, masked with 2‐nitrobenzyl diol (proDox2), which was attached to the AuNSt surface.

Synthesis of Novel Azo Schiff Bases and Their Antibacterial and Antifungal Activities

open access: yesMolecules, 2004
Ten new azo Schiff bases 5a-h and 7a-b were prepared in excellent yields via the condensation of different aromatic amines and a new azoaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-3- methoxy-5-(4-methoxyphenylazo)benzaldehyde (4) by two different methods. All new compounds were

Supra and subgingival application of antiseptics or antibiotics during periodontal therapy

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Periodontal diseases (gingivitis and periodontitis) are characterized by inflammatory processes which arise as a result of disruption of the balance in the oral ecosystem. According to the current S3 level clinical practice guidelines, therapy of patients with periodontitis involves a stepwise approach that includes the control of the patient ...
