Synthesis and Optical Properties of Diboron Complexes of 1,4‐Anthraquinone Derivatives

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
1,4‐Diboron complexes exhibit near‐infrared fluorescence, in contrast to non‐emissive 1,5‐diboron analogues. Fluorescence quantum yields decrease with increasing electron‐donating substituents, attributed to enhanced nonradiative decay via intramolecular PeT.

A Bio‐Based Chiroptical Overcrowded Alkene From Flavanone: Photoreactivity and Theoretical Investigation

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A sustainable route to photoresponsive molecular systems is achieved using the bio‐based flavanone (‐)‐isolonchocarpin from Tephrosia vogelii. Through McMurry homocoupling and light‐driven 6‐π‐electrocyclization, an overcrowded alkene and a fluorescent O‐heterocyclic phenanthrene are synthesized.

Oxidative Generation and Reactivity of the Cyclopropyl Radical From a Martin Silicate

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A photoredox strategy employing Martin silicates enables the oxidative generation and controlled capture of cyclopropyl radicals, including the naked one, long considered challenging intermediates. The method affords functionalized cyclopropanes through both Giese‐type additions and dual nickel/photoredox C(sp3)−C(sp2) cross‐couplings.

Azidophosphonamido Rhodium(I) and Iridium(I) Complexes: Synthesis, Properties, and Linkage Isomerism

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A family of azidophosphonamido ligands and their corresponding rhodium(I) and iridium(I) complexes were synthesized. The rich reaction chemistry of these species revealed unusual linkage isomerization processes and bonding motifs. M = Rh, Ir; Mes = 2,4,6‐Me3C6H2. ABSTRACT A series of azidophosphonamido rhodium(I) and iridium(I) complexes ([iPr2P(N3R)NR]

Survey of in vitro susceptibilities of Vibrio cholerae O1 and O139 to antimicrobial agents

open access: yes, 1995
Vibrio cholerae O139 (173 strains) and O1 (221 strains) were tested for their in vitro susceptibilities to 39 antimicrobial agents. Both O139 and O1 strains were highly susceptible to azithromycin, cephems, minocycline, penems, and newer fluoroquinolones.

Germylium Catalyzed Dehydrofluorination Reactions of Fluorinated Alkanes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Dehydrofluorination reactions of fluorinated alkanes catalyzed by germylium ions are reported. Computational studies of the mechanism revealed an E2 type mechanism involving a germane as a base to facilitate olefin formation in competition with an SN2 mechanism for hydrodefluorination.
