Proteus mirabilis RMS 203 as a new representative of the O13 Proteus serogroup

open access: yesActa Biochimica Polonica, 2015
The unique feature of some Proteus O-polysaccharides is occurrence of an amide of galacturonic acid with N(ε)-[(S/R)-1-Carboxyethyl]-L-lysine, GalA6(2S,8S/R-AlaLys). The results of the serological studies presented here, with reference to known O-antigens structures suggest that GalA6(2S,8S/R-AlaLys) or 2S,8R-AlaLys contribute to cross-reactions of O13

Levothyroxine Treatment During Pregnancy: A Metabolomics Study

open access: yesBasic &Clinical Pharmacology &Toxicology, Volume 139, Issue 1, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Levothyroxine is one of the most prescribed drugs during pregnancy. Our aim was to determine levothyroxine treatment‐associated changes in the metabolite profiles and link these to the health of the newborn. Metabolite profiles of 118 levothyroxine‐treated and 118 healthy control pregnancies were determined with nuclear magnetic resonance ...

Maus's salts: an old family of iron sulfates with possible magnetic frustration

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section B, Volume 82, Issue 3, Page 268-279, June 2026.
Structural investigations into Maus's salt derivatives reveal great sensitivity toward alkali metal and cocrystallized water content. Magnetic properties of the Maus's salt iron trimer are explored. The family of Maus's salts has been known for several centuries, but many aspects of their structures remain elusive, particularly because most examples are

Predictive value of alcohol use questionnaires for adverse pregnancy outcomes: Evidence from a Finnish birth cohort

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 6, Page 1104-1112, June 2026.
In this large Finnish birth cohort, alcohol use defined by AUDIT‐based instruments before pregnancy was associated with higher odds of preterm birth and small for gestational age. Abstract Introduction Prenatal alcohol exposure is associated with preterm birth (PTB) and impaired fetal growth, but identification of risky alcohol use during pregnancy ...

Effortful Control and Cortical Brain Structure in 5‐Year‐Old Children: Findings From the FinnBrain Birth Cohort Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 11, June 2026.
The structural correlates of effortful control in typically developing 5‐year‐olds were found in the left supramarginal/superior parietal region and in the right inferior temporal region. The results differed from those seen in older participants in earlier studies.

Assessing D‐Squame as a Minimally Invasive Technique to Evaluate the Cutaneous Immune Response mRNA in a Dog Model of Canine Atopic Dermatitis

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 37, Issue 3, Page 353-364, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Canine atopic dermatitis (cAD) is a multifactorial, inherited skin disease, estimated to affect ≤ 15% of dogs. Studies of skin messenger mRNA in cAD currently use invasive methods, including blood sampling and biopsy collection, whilst advances in human atopic dermatitis study methodology have demonstrated reliable use of minimally ...
