Scattering of 65 MeV helium ions from O16 [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics, 1964
Abstract In the inelastic scattering of 65 MeV helium ions by O16, the following levels of O16 were excited: 6.134, 6.918, 7.118, 8.876, 9.850, 10.363, 11.083, 11.52, 12.02, 12.443+12.528 (unresolved), 12.968+13.101 (unresolved), 13.981 and 14.94 MeV.

String compactification, QCD axion and axion-photon-photon coupling

open access: yes, 2007
It is pointed out that there exist a few problems to be overcome toward an observable sub-eV QCD axion in superstring compactification. We give a general expression for the axion decay constant.

Earlier Menopause and Risk of Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease: A Global Cohort Study

open access: yesDiabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, Volume 42, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a growing public health concern that contributes to liver and cardiovascular complications. The prevalence of MASLD in women increases sharply around age 50 years, but the relationship between an earlier age at natural menopause and MASLD is unknown.

The core helium flash revisited III. From Pop I to Pop III stars

open access: yes, 2010
Degenerate ignition of helium in low-mass stars at the end of the red giant branch phase leads to dynamic convection in their helium cores. One-dimensional (1D) stellar modeling of this intrinsically multi-dimensional dynamic event is likely to be ...

Maternal Autoimmune Disease and Childhood‐Onset Type 1 Diabetes: A Nationwide Population‐Based Nested Case‐Control Study

open access: yesPediatric Diabetes, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Introduction Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is an autoimmune disease that damages insulin‐producing pancreatic cells, often appearing in childhood. Global incidence is rising at 2%–3% yearly. Its exact cause is unclear. Prenatal exposures and maternal autoimmune disorders have been reported as potential risk factors.
