Innovation strategies of Swiss firms: identification, dynamics and intra-industry heterogeneity

open access: yesEconomics: Journal Articles, 2019
The study aims at providing new evidence with respect to the still unresolved question, whether the innovation behaviour of firms reflects industry-specific characteristics (“technological regime approach”), or whether it is the outcome of firm-specific ...

Does the Balassa-Samuelson Hypothesis Hold for Asian Countries? An Empirical Analysis using Panel Data Cointegration Tests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper tests empirically the Balassa-Samuelson (BS) hypothesis using annual data for 6 Asian countries. We apply new panel data cointegration techniques recently developed by Pedroni (2000) and we compare the results with those obtained with ...

Periodic travelling waves in a non-integrable one-dimensional lattice [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
The existence of a one-parameter family of periodic solutions representing longitudinal travelling waves is established for a one-dimensional lattice of identical particles with nearest-neighbour interaction. The potential is not given in closed form but

The Atomic Gas Properties of Green Pea Galaxies: Connections to Lyman Continuum Leakage

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
We have used the Green Bank Telescope to search for H i 21 cm emission from 30 Green Pea galaxies (GPs) at z  ≈ 0.012–0.045, obtaining 7 detections of H i 21 cm emission and 17 upper limits on the H i mass.

Standard Project Risk Analysis Approach

open access: yesBusiness Systems Research, 2020
Background: To stay competitive in a highly unpredictable market of today, companies must be able to manage project risks effectively. The basis for an effective risk management is a thorough risk analysis. Despite the availability of many different risk

Atomically Revealing Bulk Point Defect Dynamics in Hydrogen‐Driven γ‐Fe2O3 → Fe3O4 → FeO Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ TEM uncovers the atomic‐scale mechanisms underlying hydrogen‐driven γ‐Fe2O3→Fe3O4→FeO reduction. In γ‐Fe2O3, oxygen vacancies cluster around intrinsic Fe vacancies, leading to nanopore formation, whereas in Fe3O4, vacancy aggregation is suppressed, preserving a dense structure.

J1154+2443: a low-redshift compact star-forming galaxy with a 46 per cent leakage of Lyman continuum photons

open access: yes, 2017
We report the detection of the Lyman continuum (LyC) radiation of the compact star-forming galaxy (SFG) J1154+2443 observed with the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph (COS) onboard the Hubble Space Telescope.

Cognitive Familiarity‐Driven Rumor Diffusion: A Dynamic Compartmental Model With Stratified Susceptibility

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Rumor propagation significantly impacts both individual well‐being and societal stability, with various factors influencing its spread. While existing research has primarily focused on the role of interpersonal familiarity in rumor diffusion, this study introduces a different perspective: an individual’s familiarity with the subject matter itself plays

Default Prediction in the Finance Industry Based on Ensemble Learning: Combining Machine Learning and Deep Learning

open access: yesBusiness Systems Research
Financial institutions face significant challenges in predicting loan defaults, which directly impact the non-performing loan (NPL) rate. Incorrect predictions can lead to misinformed decisions and substantial financial losses.
