Heteroleptic Metal Complexes of 4‐(2‐Pyridylazo)resorcinol and 1,10‐Phenanthroline: Synthesis, Comprehensive Characterization, Electrochemical and Antioxidant Properties, and Computational Investigations

open access: yesBioinorganic Chemistry and Applications, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
New heteroligand metal complexes, [M(phen) (PAR) (OAc)]·H2O (M = Mn(II) (1), Cu(II) (3)) and [Co(phen) (PAR) (H2O)]OAc·H2O (2), incorporating 4‐(2‐pyridylazo)resorcinol (PAR) as the primary ligand and 1,10‐phenanthroline (phen) as the secondary ligand, were synthesized and comprehensively characterized.

Climate change innovation: Does board gender diversity matter?

open access: yesJournal of Innovation & Knowledge, 2023
This paper responds to recent calls to study the role that board gender diversity plays in shaping corporate responses to climate change. It examines whether female board representation is associated with greater climate change innovation and whether its

Synthesis, Characterization, Magnetic Properties, and DFT Investigations of Heterobimetallic Nickel–Lanthanide LNiIILnIII (Ln = Ce, Gd, Tb, Dy) Complexes Supported by Schiff Base Ligands

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 23, August 26, 2025.
Four 3d4f heterobimetallic Schiff base complexes are designed from the ditopic N,N’‐bis(3‐methoxysalicylaldiimine)‐1,3‐propylene‐2‐ol ligand. Experimental dc magnetic measurements and density functional theory computational investigations converge to antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between Ni(II) and Ce(III) ions while ferromagnetic interaction ...

Biotransformation of D(+)-carnitine into L(−)-carnitine by resting cells ofEscherichia coliO44 K74 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Microbiology, 1998
L(-)-carnitine was produced from D(+)-carnitine by resting cells of Escherichia coli O44 K74. Oxygen did not inhibit either the carnitine transport system or the enzymes involved in the biotransformation process. Aerobic conditions led to higher product yield than anaerobic conditions.

Association between hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and placenta accreta spectrum

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 1, Issue 3, May 2025.
Abstract Introduction Placenta accreta spectrum and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are two significant contributors to severe maternal morbidity and fetal prematurity that may have related but opposite uteroplacental vascular origins. However, the relationship between these conditions is uncertain.

Estimating causes of maternal death in data‐sparse contexts

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, Volume 43, Issue 24, Page 4702-4735, 30 October 2024.
Understanding the underlying causes of maternal death across all regions of the world is essential to inform policies and resource allocation to reduce the mortality burden. However, in many countries there exists very little data on the causes of maternal death, and data that do exist do not capture the entire population at risk.

Achiral Nanostructures: Perturbative Harmonic Generation and Dichroism Under Vortex and Vector Beams Illumination

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 12, Issue 25, September 3, 2024.
In the nonlinear regime, circular dichroism can appear even in achiral particles. A condition for its observation across a wide range of nanostructure shapes, materials, and incident vortex beams is derived. Utilizing these results, the condition for observing dichroism under vector beam illumination is established.
