Evaluation of a multidisciplinary Tier 3 weight management service for adults with morbid obesity, or obesity and comorbidities, based in primary care [PDF]
A multidisciplinary Tier 3 weight management service in primary care recruited patients with a body mass index ≥40 kg·m−2, or 30 kg·m−2 with obesity-related co-morbidity to a 1-year programme.

The severity of acute pancreatitis (AP) is linked to reduced abundance of Bifidobacterium pseudolongum (B. pseudolongum). Administration of B. pseudolongum or its key metabolite acetate alleviates pancreatic and systemic inflammation by suppressing M1 macrophage polarization.

Decoding Naturalistic Episodic Memory with Artificial Intelligence and Brain‐Machine Interface
Episodic memory weaves together what, where, and when of experience into a personal narrative. Cutting‐edge AI models may decode this intricate process in real‐life settings, revealing how neural activity encodes naturalistic memories. By merging AI with brain–machine interfaces, researchers are edging closer to mapping and even engineering memory ...

Obesity, Immunology and Obesity Surgery [PDF]
Obesity is defined as energy surplus in the white adipose tissue (WAT). In the pathophysiology of the process, adipocyte hypertrophy and pro inflammatory activation of the immune cells that are dormant in the adipose tissue (especially lymphocytes and macrophages) play an important role.

Inhibition of food intake in obese subjects by peptide YY3-36 [PDF]
Background: The gut hormone fragment peptide YY3-36 (PYY) reduces appetite and food intake when infused into subjects of normal weight. In common with the adipocyte hormone leptin, PYY reduces food intake by modulating appetite circuits in the ...

We demonstrate that Cars2, a cysteine catabolic enzyme in mouse iBAT, is critical for cold tolerance and brown adipocyte differentiation. Through its CPERS activity, Cars2 produces CysSSH/H2S to induce EBF2 persulfidation, promoting its interaction with PPARγ and BRG1 to enhance thermogenic gene expression.

Alzheimer's Disease Risk Factor APOE4 Exerts Dimorphic Effects on Female Bone
In aging bone, osteocytes accumulate neurodegenerative risk factor Apolipoprotein E (APOE). A humanized version of the Alzheimer's disease risk allele APOE4 altered the mouse bone transcriptome and proteome, with effects in female bone surpassing the brain, including bone fragility due to suppressed osteocytic maintenance of bone quality, identifying ...
