ABSTRACT Human activities such as agriculture, mining and urbanization have profoundly altered tropical river systems, yet conventional water quality indicators often fail to fully capture these impacts, especially in turbid waters. In the Doce River Basin, Southeast Brazil, the characterization of dissolved organic matter (DOM) through its optical ...

Abstract Floodplain wetlands play a crucial role in the global carbon cycle, yet the spatiotemporal variation of carbon flux in floodplain wetlands remains poorly understood due to complex hydrological processes. Here, we present an integrated framework to upscale net ecosystem CO2 exchange (NEE) in floodplain wetlands by combining eddy covariance ...

Example of object based image analysis applied to coarse resolution images. Application to landscape classification in France [PDF]
Object based image analysis (OBIA) is a powerful technique for classification of remote sensing images. Although it is generally used with very high resolution images, its application is not linked to a particular spatial resolution, and OBIA can be ...

The extraction of coastline using OBIA and GIS
The aim of the paper was to test the possibility of using object based image analyses of Landsat satellite data for worldwide assessment of sea coast changes over time. The coastline in this project was defined as the seaward margin of dunes or land vegetation. The proposed method uses Red and IRed channels of Landsat images for segmentation.
