Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

El propósito de este artículo es clarificar la diferencia entre la ciencia que se practica en un mundo dividido entre lo verdadero y lo falso y la que tiene lugar en un espacio que divide lo objetivo de lo subjetivo.

Scientists’ situated knowledge: Strong objectivity in transdisciplinarity [PDF]
Although transdisciplinary research has started addressing important epistemological challenges, as evidenced by the discussion about ‘mode 2’ knowledge production, its relation with postulations of ‘scientific objectivity’ is not yet well clarified.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Object disappearance for object discovery [PDF]
A useful capability for a mobile robot is the ability to recognize the objects in its environment that move and change (as distinct from background objects, which are largely stationary). This ability can improve the accuracy and reliability of localization and mapping, enhance the ability of the robot to interact with its environment, and facilitate ...

The epistemological problem of the objectivity of knowledge
The problem of the objectivity of knowledge arises in scientific research, but it is not exclusive of scientific disciplines. The paper analyzes therefore the problem of human knowledge from the point of view of its intrinsic objectivity. From this point

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

THREAT TO FREE INFORMATION AND FREEDOM OF INFORMATION [PDF]
“Imagine a world in which every single person on the planet is given free access to the sum of all human knowledge. That’s what we’re doing.” At a time when internet access is widely available, information is spread around the globe rapidly.
