This work presents an electrically controllable approach to spin–valley polarization in monolayer WS2 by integrating it with a dual‐mode liquid crystal laser. Applying an external field triggers phase transitions that switch the laser emission between helicity‐defined band‐edge lasing and unpolarized random lasing.

Numerical investigation on the induction zone structure of the oblique detonation waves
Oblique detonation waves are simulated to study the induction zone structures with different incident Ma numbers. Three kinds of shock configurations are observed at the end of the induction zone, which are the lambda-shaped shock, the X-shaped shock and

Extrinsic Limitations of Stealthy Hyperuniform Devices
Stealthy hyperuniform devices exhibit a scattering‐free angular region whose extent follows a simple quenching equation. Experimental measurements confirm this prediction but reveal quenching efficiencies far below theoretical expectations. Multiple scattering and finite‐size effects are quantified, establishing realistic performance limits for ...

Evolution of cellular structures on oblique detonation surfaces
In this study, numerical simulations using the inviscid Euler equations with one-step Arrhenius chemistry model are carried out to investigate the effects of activation energy and wedge angle on the stability of oblique detonation surfaces.

Compliant Pneumatic Feet with Real‐Time Stiffness Adaptation for Humanoid Locomotion
A compliant pneumatic foot with real‐time variable stiffness enables humanoid robots to adapt to changing terrains. Using onboard vision and pressure control, the foot modulates stiffness within each gait cycle, reducing impact forces and improving balance. The design, cast in soft silicone with embedded air chambers and Kevlar wrapping, offers durable,

Helix Alignment, Chevrons, and Edge Dislocations in Twist‐Bend Ferroelectric Nematics
The recently discovered twist‐bend ferroelectric nematic (NTBF) is the new member of the multiferroic family, representing a fluid with an oblique helicoidal (heliconical) periodic structure of spontaneous electric polarization. The work presents a thorough exploration of the material properties of this phase, how the periodic modulation of ...

Dynamic simulation and energy absorption of tapered thin-walled tubes under oblique impact loading
In real-world impact loading situations the structure could be subjected to both axial and off-axis loads. Tapered thin-walled rectangular tubes have been considered desirable impact energy absorbers due to their ability to withstand oblique impact loads
