Partial Observability and its Consistency for PDEs [PDF]
In this paper, a quantitative measure of partial observability is defined for PDEs. The quantity is proved to be consistent if the PDE is approximated using well-posed approximation schemes.

Two-stage optimal PMU placement for distribution systems
The rapid growth of distributed energy resources has highlighted the importance of monitoring the system state of distribution networks. One key technology that enhances observability in distribution systems is the Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU). However,

Observation, observation, observation
After having deplored for a long time the rarity, the slow pace of preparation and the lack of access to what seemed to be mountainous terrains, big data has been created, emerging in fluid masses, wave after wave, to become a new sphere of knowledge, useful for human and social sciences.

The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Demonstration of an All‐Optical AND Gate Mediated by Photochromic Molecules
A logic AND gate that runs on photons is demonstrated. It relies on two spatially separated photochromic molecules that work in tandem. Abstract The realization of a photonic logic AND gate, i.e. a logic AND gate that runs on photons rather than electrons, and where all steps are controlled by light, is demonstrated. In a proof‐of‐principle experiment,

For the first time, a highly sensitive electrochemical biosensor based on SiO2‐based hairy particles with a grafted PDMAEMA polymer brush containing a quantifiable and large amount of immobilized Laccase is reported. The fabricated biosensor exhibits a sensitivity of 0.14 A·m⁻¹, a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.1 µm, and a detection range of 0.3–750 µm,

Observability and Controllability of Nonlinear Networks: The Role of Symmetry
Observability and controllability are essential concepts to the design of predictive observer models and feedback controllers of networked systems. For example, noncontrollable mathematical models of real systems have subspaces that influence model ...
