This paper aims to provide directly the observability inequality of backward stochastic heat equations for measurable sets. As an immediate application, the null controllability of the forward heat equations is obtained.

A characterization of switched linear control systems with finite L 2 -gain [PDF]
Motivated by an open problem posed by J.P. Hespanha, we extend the notion of Barabanov norm and extremal trajectory to classes of switching signals that are not closed under concatenation. We use these tools to prove that the finiteness of the L2-gain is

The problem of uniform polynomial observability was recently analyzed. It is shown that, when the continuous model is uniformly polynomially observable, it is sufficient to filter initial data to derive uniform polynomial observability inequalities for ...

Observability inequality for the spatial discretization of weakly coupled 2d-wave equations
This study addresses the problem of indirect boundary observability for a spatial semi-discretization of weakly coupled two-dimensional wave equations. The discretization is performed using a finite difference method on a uniform mesh. More specifically,

An Internal Observability Estimate for Stochastic Hyperbolic Equations [PDF]
This paper is addressed to establishing an internal observability estimate for some linear stochastic hyperbolic equations. The key is to establish a new global Carleman estimate for forward stochastic hyperbolic equations in the $L^2$-space.

An observation on the Turán–Nazarov inequality
The main observation of this note is that the Lebesgue measure $\mu$ in the Tur\'an-Nazarov inequality for exponential polynomials can be replaced with a certain geometric invariant $\omega \ge \mu$, which can be effectively estimated in terms of the metric entropy of a set, and may be nonzero for discrete and even finite sets.

Food Tastes in the United States: Convergence or Divergence?
ABSTRACT This study investigates how food consumption tastes have changed in recent decades across the United States. Using NielsenIQ data for over 77 million transactions, there is evidence of divergence in food tastes across regions from 2007 to 2016 and across households of different income, education, and race/ethnicity groups.

Observability Estimate for the Fractional Order Parabolic Equations on Measurable Sets
We establish an observability estimate for the fractional order parabolic equations evolved in a bounded domain Ω of ℝn. The observation region is F×ω, where ω and F are measurable subsets of Ω and (0,T), respectively, with positive measure.

Space-Time Sampling for Network Observability
Designing sparse sampling strategies is one of the important components in having resilient estimation and control in networked systems as they make network design problems more cost-effective due to their reduced sampling requirements and less fragile ...
