Cosmological Models and Observation

open access: yes, 2005
In this work we give a detailed discussion of the basic theory and current observational status of cosmology. We introduce gauge-invariant perturbation theory to derive the linear perturbation equations and use a matrix formalism to find suitable initial conditions for numerical integration.

Ideas as the ‘Divinity of Our Soul’: Kant's Theocentric and Platonic Model of Human Cognition

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, EarlyView.
Abstract I pursue Kant's characterization of the ideas of reason as the ‘divinity of our soul’ with the aim of correcting a highly influential reading of his philosophy as rejecting the theocentric cognitive model, one measuring human cognition against the norm of the divine intuitive intellect.

Observational Cosmology And The Cosmic Distance Duality Relation

open access: yes, 2011
We study the validity of cosmic distance duality relation between angular diameter and luminosity distances. To test this duality relation we use the latest Union2 Supernovae Type Ia (SNe Ia) data for estimating the luminosity distance. The estimation of

The Role of Dice in the Emergence of the Probability Calculus

open access: yesInternational Statistical Review, EarlyView.
Summary The early development of the probability calculus was clearly influenced by the roll of dice. However, while dice have been cast since time immemorial, documented calculations on the frequency of various dice throws date back only to the mid‐13th century.

Observational signatures of a non-singular bouncing cosmology

open access: yes, 2011
We study a cosmological scenario in which inflation is preceded by a bounce. In this scenario, the primordial singularity, one of the major shortcomings of inflation, is replaced by a non-singular bounce, prior to which the universe undergoes a phase of ...

Technofuturist Registers for AI and the Future of Work

open access: yesJournal of Sociolinguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article contributes to sociolinguistic scholarship on register formations, digital technology, and labor by analyzing technofuturist registers—historically inherited, typified, and socially shared modes of speaking about technology. These registers create distinct modes of feeling, relating, idealizing, and desiring technology and its ...

On the Number of Galaxies at High Redshift

open access: yesGalaxies, 2015
The number of galaxies at a given flux as a function of the redshift, z, is derived when the z-distance relation is non-standard. In order to compare different models, the same formalism is also applied to the standard cosmology.

Insights on the volcanic and impact histories of the lunar nearside from the petrology, geochemistry, and geochronology of the Calcalong Creek lunar regolith breccia meteorite

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 60, Issue 3, Page 392-421, March 2025.
Abstract The Calcalong Creek lunar meteorite is a regolith breccia with a lithologically diverse array of clasts set in a glassy, highly vesicular matrix. Here, we present a comprehensive new analysis of the meteorite. Comparisons to remote sensing data, lunar sample lithologies, and lunar sample ages indicate that it was likely sourced from regolith ...
