Inter-observer variation in the triage-process [PDF]

open access: yesScand J Trauma Resusc Emerg Med, 2010
Background Triage algorithms for sorting patients according to their severity of illness have recently been implemented at several emergency departments in Denmark. Clinical effectiveness and safety depend on standardization of the triage process. We implemented a 5-level triage algorithm for which triage nurses underwent an initial training.

Inter-observer variation in ultrasound measurement of the volume and diameter of thyroid nodules. [PDF]

open access: yesKorean J Radiol, 2015
Objective Thyroid nodule measurement using ultrasonography (US) is widely performed in various clinical scenarios. The purpose of this study was to evaluate inter-observer variation in US measurement of the volume and maximum diameter of thyroid nodules.

Observer variation in ophthalmology. [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Ophthalmology, 1980
Data collected by clinicians and nurses from patients with clinically diagnosed lens opacities revealed that there was poor repeatability of the description of the position of lens opacities, statistically significant observer variation in determining visual acuity, and good repeatability as to what visual tasks the patient can perform. It is suggested

Inter-observer variability for cardiac ultrasound measurements in cats repeated at different time points in early adult life [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary and Animal Science, 2018
A high degree of accuracy is required when using echocardiography to diagnose hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) in cats, as variation in measurements of 0.5 mm may affect classification of individuals as ‘abnormal’.

Observed Subdecadal Variations of European Summer Temperatures [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2020
AbstractWe identify subdecadal variations in European summer temperatures in coupled and uncoupled century‐long reanalyses. Spectral analyses reveal significant peaks at 5–10 years in the midtwentieth century. The subdecadal variations show substantial amplitudes of ~1–1.5 °C, associated with extremely warm summers during their positive phases.

Mapping surgical coordinates of the sphenopalatine foramen : surgical navigation study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Aims to identify measurements that may help intra operative localisation of the sphenopalatine foramen. The study used three dimensional surgical navigation software to study radiological anatomy, in order to define the distances and angulations between ...

Intra- and inter-observer variation and accuracy using different shear wave elastography methods to assess circumscribed objects - a phantom study.

open access: yesMedical ultrasonography, 2017
AIMS The elastic properties of circumscribed tissues (e.g., tendons, lymph nodes, prostates, brain tumors) are of considerable clinical interest. The purpose of this study was thus to compare the Intra-/Inter-observer variation and accuracy in vitro of ...

Personalization of Saliency Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Most existing saliency models use low-level features or task descriptions when generating attention predictions. However, the link between observer characteristics and gaze patterns is rarely investigated. We present a novel saliency prediction technique

Can an observer really catch up with light [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Given a null geodesic $\gamma_0(\lambda)$ with a point $r$ in $(p,q)$ conjugate to $p$ along $\gamma_0(\lambda)$, there will be a variation of $\gamma_0(\lambda)$ which will give a time-like curve from $p$ to $q$.
