Observations of Time Variation in the Sun's Rotation

Science, 1993
Observations of solar p-mode frequency splittings obtained at Big Bear Solar Observatory in 1986 and during 1988-90 reveal small (∼1 percent) changes in the sun's subsurface angular velocity with solar cycle. An asymptotic inversion of the splitting data yields the latitude dependence of the rotation rate and shows that the largest changes in the ...

A comparison of three methods of assessing inter-observer variation applied to ultrasonic fetal measurement in the third trimester.

British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1990
The inter-observer variation of fetal biparietal diameter, head circumference, abdominal circumference, and femoral length measured in the third trimester by ultrasound was studied by three different methods--coefficient of variation, correlation ...

Observer variation in MRI evaluation of patients suspected of lumbar disk herniation.

AJR. American journal of roentgenology, 2005
OBJECTIVE Our objective was to assess observer variation in MRI evaluation in patients suspected of lumbar disk herniation. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Two experienced neuroradiologists independently evaluated 59 consecutive patients with lumbosacral ...

Observer variation in equine abdominal auscultation

Equine Veterinary Journal, 1990
SummaryThe reliability of abdominal auscultation was investigated via an observer variation study. Clinicians listened to a variety of minute‐long equine gut sound recordings. They evaluated the amount of gut sounds as ‘absent’, ‘decreased’, ‘normal’, or ‘increased’. They subsequently evaluated the same recordings replayed in a different order.

Observer and experimental variation in tuberculin testing

Tubercle, 1970
Abstract Investigations into the experimental and observer variations of the Mantoux and the multiple puncture (Heaf) tests are described. They were carried out on patients in a mental hospital and on students in four high schools in Western Australia. Tests were performed by one operator and the reactions read by up to three observers on from one to

Variation of Stereoscopic Acuity with Observation Distance

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1963
The stereoscopic acuity of five subjects was investigated in two consecutive and related studies. In the first one a modified horopter apparatus was used and the stereoscopic acuity was determined, at a mean retinal locus of 4° to the left of the fovea, at the 333- and 1000-mm observation distances.

Observed variations in O and Of stars

1987
There are hardly any features in the electromagnetic spectrum between X-rays and the radio domain which time resolved observations have not detected to be variable in at least some O stars. The as yet most prominent patterns of intrinsic variability are: (i) variations of flux and flux distribution with a strong increase of the amplitudes ...
