Pregnancy Outcomes in Patients with Obstructed Hemivagina Ipsilateral Renal Agenesis
Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, 2023Obstructed hemivagina with ipsilateral renal agenesis (OHVIRA) is a rare congenital Müllerian anomaly. We sought to explore the impact of OHVIRA on pregnancy outcomes.A retrospective chart review identified 8 patients with an OHVIRA diagnosis and at least 1 documented pregnancy.

The obstructed hemivagina, ipsilateral renal anomaly, uterus didelphys triad
Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 2009The triad of obstructed hemivagina, renal anomaly and uterus didelphys is an uncommon cause of abdominal pain and menstrual discomfort in adolescent girls. Accurate diagnosis and surgical treatment can be delayed for several months or even years. Adolescent girls presenting with these symptoms should have a baseline pelvic ultrasound scan to establish ...

Uterus Didelphys with Obstructed Hemivagina and Multicystic Dysplastic Kidney
European Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2005Müllerian malformations include a broad range of anomalies, resulting from the incomplete formation and/or differentiation of the Müllerian ducts. The uterus didelphys with obstructed hemivagina represents the result of a lateral nonfusion of the Müllerian ducts with asymmetric obstruction, and it is almost always associated with renal agenesis.

An Unusual Presentation of Uterine Didelphys and Obstructed Hemivagina
Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, 2012Congenital disorders of the genitourinary system can be unpredictable. There are both medical and surgical interventions that can help manage symptoms.A 10-year-old girl was evaluated 6 months post-menarche with dysuria and pelvic pain. Her symptoms were not relieved with menstrual suppression.

Uterine didelphys are rare malformations involving the Mullerian ducts. The incidence ranges from 0.1% to 3.8%. This wide range could be because of inaccurate diagnosis or to the fact that many of these diagnoses are not detected during the women's lifetime.

Obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal agenesis with intestinal malrotation
Pediatrics International, 2013AbstractThe combination of uterus didelphys, obstructed hemivagina, and ipsilateral renal agenesis represents a rare congenital anomaly called Herlyn‐Werner‐Wunderlich syndrome (HWWS) or obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal anomaly (OHVIRA) syndrome.

Obstructed Hemivagina in the Adolescent: A Diagnostic Challenge
Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, 2014Conclusion: The study demonstrates that adolescent girls presenting with clitoromegaly are likely to seek clitoral reduction surgery despite potential impairment to clitoral sensitivity and uncertain long-term physical or psychological benefit. It is of interest that a minority of patients do not choose (further) surgery.

A 14-year-old nulligravida with congenital absence of the left kidney came to our unit because of severe dysmenorrhea. Physical examination revealed a left-sided paravaginal bulge. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed uterine didelphys, left hematocolpos, and hematometra, which were confirmed at laparoscopy (Fig. 1).

[Hematocolpos due to obstructed hemivagina. About three cases].
Gynecologie, obstetrique & fertilite, 2006Abnormalities of the reproductive tract interest a little more than 1% of the women. The symptoms are not specific: abdominal pain seems like appendicitis, invalidating dysmenorrheas in the girl, urinary manifestations. They should be discovered and treated because they could bring about obstetric complications later.
