Introduction: Anti-hepatitis B core antibody (Anti-HBc) alone is defined as the presence of anti-HBc in the absence of HBsAg and anti-HBs. The significance of this serological pattern as a predicting factor for occult hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection ...

Abstract Background Blood donors represent a unique population. Pre‐donation screening questions, donor self‐deferral, and temporary deferral and re‐testing of repeat reactive donors result in lower prevalence of infectious disease compared to the general population.

Occult hepatitis B virus infection in immunocompromised patients
Occult hepatitis B infection is characterized by hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA in the serum in the absence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). We assessed occult HBV infection prevalence in two groups of immunocompromised patients (maintenance ...

Booster immunity – diagnosis of chronic hepatitis B viral infection
Introduction: Diagnosis of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection particularly its occult form requires monitoring and repeat serological and molecular studies.

The clinical significance of occult HBV infection. [PDF]
The presence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA in HBV surface antigen (HBsAg)-negative individuals is defined as occult HBV infection (OBI). OBI is related in some cases to infection with variant viruses (S-escape mutants) undetectable by HBsAg commercial kits.

HBV Dominance Is Associated With a Distinct Inflammatory Milieu in HBV/HCV Coinfection
ABSTRACT Hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV) virus coinfection is linked to a higher risk of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) compared to monoinfection. Despite this, data are limited, and further investigation is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms.

Successful switch to tenofovir after suboptimal response to entecavir in an immunocompromised patient with chronic hepatitis B and without genotypic hepatitis B virus resistance [PDF]
We report a case of an immunocompromised patient affected by chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) with high basal HBV viremia (>8 log(10) IU/ml) who failed an entecavir regimen, despite the absence of primary or secondary drug resistance mutations.

Revaccination Response and Lack of Hepatitis B Reactivation After HCT for Sickle Cell Disease
At baseline, 55% of sickle cell patients showed HBV immunity, and 93% received post HCT revaccination, with 89% completing the series. Between Years 1–2, 67.5% of vaccinated patients had rising anti HBs titers. No HBV reactivation occurred, though nonresponders under heavy immunosuppression need further study.

Occult Hepatitis B Virus Infection in Chronic Hemodialysis Patients in Panje-Azar Hospital, Gorgan
Background and objectives: Hepatitis B virus infection is a major health problem in worldwide. The prevalence of Occult and chronic HBV in hemodialysis patients is higher than standard in developing countries.
