We investigate the performance limits of spectral amplitude coding optical code‐division multiple access (SAC‐OCDMA) systems from a receiver‐centric perspective. Existing approaches have focused largely on code design and uniform receiver architectures; however, these measures provide only partial mitigation and lead to rapid BER saturation as the ...

Wavelength‐division‐multiplexing passive‐optical‐network (WDM‐PON) has been recognized as a promising solution of the “last mile” access as well as multibroadband data services access for end users, and WDM‐RoF‐PON, which employs radio‐over‐fiber (RoF) technique in WDM‐PON, is even a more attractive approach for future broadband fiber and wireless ...

Distributed-phase OCDMA encoder-decoders based on fiber Bragg gratings
We propose and demonstrate new optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) encoder-decoders having a continuous phase-distribution. With the same spatial refractive index distribution as the reconfigurable optical phase encoder-decoders, they are ...

Nonlinear Effect and MAI Impact on SAC-OCDMA System Based on 2D Multi-Diagonal Code and Laser Array
A new architecture for Spectral Amplitude Coding Optical Code Division Multiple Access (SAC-OCDMA) system based on two Dimensional Multi Diagonal (2D-MD) codes named 2D-MD SAC-OCDMA and utilizing a laser optical source is proposed for Long-Reach Passive ...

This study proposes novel three‐dimensional (3D) matrices of wavelength/time/spatial code for code‐division multiple‐access (OCDMA) networks, with a double balanced detection mechanism. We construct 3D carrier‐hopping prime/modified prime (CHP/MP) codes by extending a two‐dimensional (2D) CHP code integrated with a one‐dimensional (1D) MP code.

Free Space Optics: Current Applications and Future Challenges
FSO is a communication system where free space acts as medium between transceivers and they should be in LOS for successful transmission of optical signal. Medium can be air, outer space, or vacuum. This system can be used for communication purpose in hours and in lesser economy.

Analysis of Optical CDMA Signal Transmission: Capacity Limits and Simulation Results
We present performance limits of the optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) networks. In particular, we evaluate the information-theoretical capacity of the OCDMA transmission when single-user detection (SUD) is used by the receiver.

Overloading is a method to extend capacity limitation of multiple access techniques. The system becomes overloaded, when the number of users exceeds the signal dimensions. One of the efficient schemes to overload a CDMA system is to use two sets of orthogonal signal waveforms (O/O).
