Diagnostic tools for 3D unstructured oceanographic data
Most ocean models in current use are built upon structured meshes. It follows that most existing tools for extracting diagnostic quantities (volume and surface integrals, for example) from ocean model output are constructed using techniques and software ...

Revised edition. Naturalist Gosse reviews the natural history of the world's oceans, including a detailed look at the shores of Britain. "In the following pages the Author has endeavoured to describe, with some minuteness of detail, a few of the many objects of interest more or less directly connected with the Sea, and especially to lead youthful ...

A biodegradable molecularly imprinted polymer porous silica sensor enables dual optical readout of doxorubicin via fluorescence and effective optical thickness shifts. The combined transduction mechanisms provide enhanced reliability and quantitative accuracy over clinically relevant concentrations, representing a step toward transient implantable ...

Unsaturated Coordination Oxygen in Zn─V─O Vacancy Clusters Enables Superb Zinc Storage Capability
Zn3(VO4)2 with Zn─V─O vacancy clusters was synthesized and innovatively applied as cathode material in aqueous Zn‐ion batteries. In‐situ XRD, HRTEM and ab initio molecular dynamics simulations unveil the double reaction mechanism of zinc ions. Adsorption of zinc ions on unsaturated coordination O and H+ on O in ‐VO4 contributes to the main capacity. It

Supporting a Healthy Ocean: The Far-reaching Benefits of Large, Fully Protected Areas [PDF]
The ocean covers nearly three-quarters of the planet and plays an essential role in supporting life on Earth. Its waters help regulate global chemistry and climate, and are home to over 2 million species, many of which still await discovery.1 This rich ...

Bioinspired Morphology‐Decoupled Soft Gripper with Enhanced Bidirectional Grasping Capability
Inspired by biological predation, a novel gripper decouples cross‐modal grasping via dual morphological configurations. Synergistically integrating hybrid rigid and soft coupled fingers with a metamaterial palm, the system performs active compliant grasping for static objects and passive cage capture for dynamic targets.

Coast-ocean-atmosphere-ocean mesoscale interaction [PDF]
In the case of cold air outbreaks, the combination of the coastal shape and the sea surface temperature (SST) pattern have a profound effect in establishing a low level mesoscale atmospheric circulation as a result of differential heating due to both ...

A hierarchically porous AOPIM‐CNT electrode enables uranium harvesting from seawater via adsorption‐promoted electrodeposition. Rapid diffusion and selective adsorption are coupled with electrochemical crystallization and spontaneous detachment, creating a self‐refreshing process that sustains high‐capacity, continuous extraction from ultradilute ...
