Rhyming in the cold: first evidence of soniferous fishes in the Southern Ocean
The acoustic ecology of Southern Ocean fishes remains unknown due to a lack of dedicated acoustic research on the fishes of this ocean. Passive acoustic monitoring data were collected at the South African sub‐Antarctic Prince Edward Islands using an underwater acoustic recorder, and towed underwater Ski‐Monkey cameras were deployed to identify fish ...

Regulatory Framework and Public Policies for Sustainability in the Construction Sector
ABSTRACT This study analyzes the role of public policies in promoting socially responsible practices in the construction sector, with a particular focus on their contribution to climate neutrality and the decarbonization of the building stock. European agreements exert increasing pressure to transform the construction sector, reinforcing the transition

Are physiological and ecosystem-level tipping points caused by ocean acidification? A critical evaluation [PDF]
Ocean acidification (OA) is predicted to cause profound shifts in many marine ecosystems by impairing the ability of calcareous taxa to calcify and grow and by influencing the physiology of many others.

Diamine Grafting of Pyrazole‐Based MOF‐303 for Diluted‐Source CO2 Capture
Vapor‐phase diffusion of ethylenediamine (EDA) into the pyrazole‐based MOF‐303 framework enables efficient amine grafting via pyrazole deprotonation and ion‐pair–stabilized hydrogen bonding with the pore walls. Spectroscopic analyses elucidate the interaction, while breakthrough experiments confirm the material's performance and cyclability.

ABSTRACT In this study, we examined metal accumulation and biochemical responses of Azolla imbricata (Roxb.) Nakai exposed to water medium (WM) and nutrient medium (NM) under single and combined (co‐exposure) treatments with five metals (As, Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn) at 10% environmentally relevant concentrations.

Ocean acidification conditions increase resilience of marine diatoms
Diatoms account for 40% of marine primary production and their sensitivity to ocean acidification could have ecosystem-wide consequences. Here, the authors developed and applied a stress test, demonstrating that resilience of diatoms increases ...

ABSTRACT The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development aims to eradicate poverty, protect the environment, and promote prosperity through 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Achieving these goals requires a multi‐sectoral approach. Maritime transportation, vital to the global economy, significantly contributes to several SDGs and plays a strategic ...

A new indicator can assess absorption capacity for carbon dioxide and ocean acidification
The ocean has absorbed 25% of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions over the past 40 years, effectively slowing atmospheric carbon dioxide growth but causing ocean acidification.
