Paving the Way to Elucidate Hg's Role in Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumorigenesis can result from diverse environmental carcinogens. Among them, mercury—a lifelong bioaccumulative Group 2B carcinogen—has tumorigenic potential that remains poorly understood due to confounding co‐exposures and limited organ‐specific data.

Self‐Sustaining Piezozyme Platform for Antifouling via Mechanically Triggered Enzymatic Cascade

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Wave‐powered CeO2/g‐C3N4 piezozyme coating converts ocean motion into an enzymatic H2O2‐to‐ROS cascade, realizing 180‐day eco‐friendly marine antifouling. ABSTRACT Harnessing ubiquitous mechanical energy for catalytic activation offers an emerging pathway toward self‐sustaining environmental protection systems.

Response of the Hadley Circulation to Climate Change in an Aquaplanet GCM Coupled to a Simple Representation of Ocean Heat Transport [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
It is unclear how the width and strength of the Hadley circulation are controlled and how they respond to climate changes. Simulations of global warming scenarios with comprehensive climate models suggest the Hadley circulation may widen and weaken as ...

A simplified general circulation model for a baroclinic ocean with topography. Part I: Theory, waves and wind-driven circulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A new type of ocean circulation model is described and tested for various simplewind-driven circulation problems. The model resides on the vorticity balance ofthe depth averaged velocity and a hierarchy of balance equations for thevertical moments of ...

Drivers of uncertainty in simulated ocean circulation and heat uptake

open access: yes, 2017
The impact of uncertainties in air‐sea fluxes and ocean model parameters on the ocean circulation and ocean heat uptake (OHU) is assessed in a novel modeling framework.

Pan‐3D Genome Analysis Reveals the Roles of Structural Variation in Chicken Chromatin Architectures, Domestication and Production Traits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study firstly presents a comprehensive and high‐resolution pan‐3D genome resource in chicken. Our findings reveal the role of structural variations in 3D genome architectures, and how they influence the domestication process and production traits at the 3D genome level.

Emergence of the North Pacific heat storage pattern delayed by decadal wind-driven redistribution

open access: yesNature Communications
Storage of anthropogenic heat in the oceans is spatially inhomogeneous, impacting regional climates and human societies. Climate models project enhanced heat storage in the mid-latitude North Pacific (MNP) and much weaker storage in the tropical Pacific.

Water mass characteristics and hydrodynamics at an inshore versus an offshore mid-Norwegian cold-water coral reef habitat

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
IntroductionCold-water coral reefs form complex benthic habitats, supporting thousands of species. The broadscale environmental tolerances of reef-forming species such as Lophelia pertusa are well studied, but small-scale differences between different ...

Observation of Near-Inertial Oscillations Induced by Energy Transformation during Typhoons

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Three typhoon events were selected to examine the impact of energy transformation on near-inertial oscillations (NIOs) using observations from a subsurface mooring, which was deployed at 125° E and 18° N on 26 September 2014 and recovered on 11 ...

RENAL‐CHIP: Rejection Evaluation via Non‐Invasive Analysis of Circulating Podocytes With Herringbone‐Chip Isolation Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RENAL‐CHIP converts 1 mL of peripheral blood into a biopsy‐equivalent readout of renal‐allograft fate. By magnetic capture and release of donor‐derived circulating podocytes through a herringbone microfluidic chip, 84% capture, 96% release and single‐cell RNA evidence of rejection‐specific immunity are achieved.
