Liquid‐phase oxidation of furfural catalyzed by magnetically separable metal oxide nanoparticles deposited on silica gel

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Oxidation of furfural (FF), a bio‐based platform chemical, was investigated using a range of iron‐, vanadium‐ and iron–zinc‐oxalates supported on silica gel (FeVOx@silica and FeZnOx@silica, respectively) as precursor for FeV@silica and FeZn@silica oxide catalysts and H2O2 as a green oxidant.

Variability in global ocean phytoplankton distribution over 1979-2006

open access: yes, 2008
Recently, reanalysis of long-term ocean color data (CZCS and SeaWiFS; Antoine et al., 2005) has shown that world ocean average phytoplankton chlorophyll levels show an increase of 20% over the last two decades. It is however unknown whether this increase

Listening to Hong Kong children's perspectives through pretend play

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Quality in early childhood education and care (ECEC) has become an increasing concern in recent years. The issue has been regularly discussed by different stakeholders. However, the rising concern regarding quality in ECEC has not seriously taken into account children's perspectives.

English teachers' journeys since the 2020 Iteration of Black Lives Matter

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract The 2020 resurgence of Black Lives Matter (BLM) mobilised students in England to demand greater representation of racially minoritised voices in English curriculums—a call highlighted by stark inequity: just 1.5% of GCSE texts studied are by racially minoritised authors, despite racially minoritised students comprising 38.0% of the student ...

Laboratory Calibration Comparison of Hyperspectral Ocean Color Radiometers in the Frame of the FRM4SOC Phase 2 Project

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Variability across different calibration laboratories can impact the consistency of ocean color data; this study addresses that challenge through a coordinated comparison of spectral irradiance and radiance calibrations. As part of the Fiducial Reference

Marine silicon for biomedical sustainability

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Schematic illustrating marine silicon for biomedical engineering. Abstract Despite momentous divergence from oceanic origin, human beings and marine organisms exhibit elemental homology through silicon utilization. Notably, silicon serves as a critical constituent in multiple biomedical processes.

Validation of Geostationary Ocean Color Instrument (GOCI) Radiometric Products from GDPS 1.3 Using In-situ Measurements and MODIS data.

open access: yes, 2014
Preliminary validation studies for previous GOCI Data Processing System (GDPS) versions were carried out in 2012 with a limited number of match-up in-situ measurements [2] and other polar-orbiting ocean color satellite scenes from MERIS and MODIS [3 ...

Spatial metrics in fire ecology: seeking consistency amidst complexity

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Technological advances, including remote sensing, have led to a proliferation of metrics used in ecological studies to examine spatial patterns of fire regimes and their ecological effects. Researchers can use many different metrics to analyse spatial variation in both fire events and resulting fire regimes, including fire size, shape ...
