Medium-range forecasting of oceanic eddy trajectory
ABSTRACTThe capability of continuous eddy tracking has been significantly advanced over the past decades, thanks to the availability of sea surface height measurements routinely collected by satellite altimeters. However, due to the complexity of eddy kinematic mechanisms and underlying oceanic processes, a medium-range forecast of individual eddy ...

High‐elevation endemic plants predicted to lose habitat from changing climate in Washington State
Abstract Premise High‐elevation plants face unique challenges from potential climate change impacts that will likely require upslope migration into increasingly smaller suitable habitat. This situation is particularly acute for endemic species that by definition occupy small geographic ranges.

Persistent El Niño-like conditions over the western Pacific during the Bølling–Allerød interstadial
Projecting El Niño-Southern Oscillation responses to future climate change are hindered by limited paleoclimate records spanning past abrupt climate transitions.

Abstract Premise The soil depth of underground storage organs (USOs) of geophytes involves cost–benefit trade‐offs and may relate to USO age, size, and disturbances such as fire and herbivory. Yet determinants of USO depth are poorly studied. We posit that belowground mammalian predation of USOs is a selective force for the positive relationship ...

Abstract The Australasian crocodylian fossil record is dominated by the extinct endemic clade Mekosuchinae, with known members spanning the Eocene‐to‐Holocene. This diverse clade exhibited high morphological disparity, from early members superficially similar to Crocodylus, to more terrestrial forms later in the clade's evolutionary history.

The Indian Ocean forecast system
In order to meet the ever growing demand for the prediction of oceanographic parametres in the Indian Ocean for a variety of applications, the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has recently set-up an operational ocean forecast system, viz. the Indian Ocean Forecast System (INDOFOS).

This study delineates the early sex differentiation timeline in the northern snakehead (Channa argus). These findings provide a foundation for future sex‐control breeding in this economically important species. ABSTRACT The northern snakehead (Channa argus) is an economically important aquaculture species in China.
