A fully organic UV threshold dosimeter is developed by exploiting the oxygen‐sensitive room‐temperature phosphorescence of a purely organic emitter in a polymer matrix. Upon reaching a specific cumulative UV dose, photochemical oxygen depletion triggers a sharp, high‐contrast emission.

Seismic Formation Fluid Pressure Observations Reveal High Anisotropy of Oceanic Crust
Fractures and faults in igneous oceanic crust affect hydrothermal circulation and hydration of the oceanic plates. Seismic observations have provided information about lithospheric fabrics, but direct measurements of oceanic crust’s elastic properties ...

Negatively charged boron vacancy defects in hexagonal boron nitride promise near‐surface quantum sensing, but their internal spin transition rates are only partly understood. This work directly measures the defect's singlet‐state lifetime, 15(3) ns, using a nanosecond rise‐time dual‐pulse photoluminescence‐recovery method, and shows that high laser ...

Symposium on Ocean Floor Spreading
During the Fifteenth General Assembly of the IUGG there will be four technical sessions devoted to a Symposium on Ocean Floor Spreading. This title is to be interpreted in a broad sense to include all aspects of science related to this major new theory of global tectonics.Sessions or subsessions will be devoted to the following topics: Global Patterns,

Synchronous oceanic spreading and continental rifting in West Antarctica
Magnetic anomalies associated with new ocean crust formation in the Adare Basin off north‐western Ross Sea (43–26 Ma) can be traced directly into the Northern Basin that underlies the adjacent morphological continental shelf, implying a continuity in the

Four donor–acceptor boron difluoride complexes based on triphenylamine donor and a naphthyridine acceptor units were synthesized, studied, and applied as OLED emitters. They exhibit pronounced intramolecular charge transfer character, balanced charge transport properties, and tunable emission. Near‐unity PLQYs are achieved for selected compounds, while

IODP Expeditions 304 & 305 Characterize the Lithology, Structure, and Alteration of an Oceanic Core Complex [PDF]
More than forty years after the Mohole Project (Bascom, 1961), the goal of drilling a complete section through in situ oceanic crust remains unachieved.

A Bayesian optimization framework identifies the ideal composition for Lu2(MoO4)3:Yb–Er–Tm phosphors with minimal experimental trials. By leveraging the host's negative thermal expansion, the material achieves remarkable thermal quenching compensation.

Volatiles and Redox Along the East African Rift
The upper mantle under the Afar Depression in the East African Rift displays some of the slowest seismic wave speeds observed globally. Despite the extreme nature of the geophysical anomaly, lavas that erupted along the East African Rift record modest ...
