野生动物学报, 2022 从生理学、行为学及分子生物学等方面对高原鼠兔（Ochotona curzoniae）的低氧适应机制进行阐述，发现高原鼠兔血液与血红蛋白的结合、释放氧的能力较高，这对低氧时体内氧的传递是有利的；肺小动脉壁变薄，这有利于在低氧条件下进行气体交换，使更多的氧进入肺部，同时高原鼠兔的右心室重量低于常氧环境中的大鼠。这就最大限度防止了高原鼠兔在低氧环境中出现右心室衰竭。行为学研究主要集中在其繁殖行为方面，分子生物学研究主要集中在其血管生成、能量代谢和携氧蛋白的携氧能力方面。
