Cloning and characterization of lactate dehydrogenase C4 from Ochotona curzoniae
Molecular Biology, 2014Lactate dehydrogenase C4 (LDH-C4) is considered to be a good target protein for the development of contraceptive drugs. To develop contraceptive rodenticide against pika (Ochotona curzoniae) LDH-C4, the pika LDH-C gene was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant protein was purified and characterized.

Isolation and characterization of 13 microsatellite loci in the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae)
Conservation Genetics, 2008High quality jumping microsatellite libraries of the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) were constructed; 231 out of the 288 clones contained microsatellite repeat motif and 120 pairs of primers were designed accordingly. Polymorphism was assessed for 48 individuals. Only 13 microsatellite loci were polymorphic with high polymorphism information content

Male reproductive success in plateau pikas (Ochotona curzoniae): A microsatellite analysis
Mammalian Biology, 2009In many social species, competition and cooperation between group members may lead to a large variance in reproductive success among individuals, especially for adult male. From April to August 2002, we studied the adult male reproductive success of plateau pikas in Haibei Alpine Meadow Ecosystem Research Station, Chinese Academy of Science, using ...

Mitochondrion, 2008
Pikas originated in Asia and are small lagomorphs native to cold climates. The plateau pika, Ochotona curzoniae is a keystone species on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and an ideal animal model for hypoxic adaptation studies. Altered mitochondrial function, especially cytochrome c oxidase activity, is an important factor in modulation of energy generation ...

Life history of the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) in alpine meadows of the Tibetan Plateau
Mammalian Biology, 2013The life history of a species is a result of natural selection and reflects how the species is adapted to its environment. Knowledge of life history is crucial for further ecological studies and conservation management. This paper presents aspects of the life history of the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae), a small mammal native to alpine meadows of ...

Modeling dispersal of the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) using a cellular automata model
Ecological Modelling, 2007The plateau pika is a keystone species of the Qinghai-Xizang plateau. We ought to intensify the inspection and management about its population dynamics in order to bring it to appropriate spatio-temporal distribution, play the role of keystone species, and do not destroy the alpine grasslands.
