Similarity Avoidance and the OCP [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Language & Linguistic Theory, 2004
It has long been known that verbal roots containing homorganic consonant pairs are rare in Arabic, motivating the existence of an OCP-Place constraint (Obligatory Contour Principle on place of articulation) in the phonological grammar. We explore this constraint using an on-line lexicon of Arabic roots.

Organ of Corti-specific polypeptides: OCP-I and OCP-II [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 1980
Proteins associated with the specific functions of differentiated cells have been found in numerous systems. By means of two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, we have identified two polypeptides, apparently specific to the organ of Corti and tentatively named OCP-I and OCP-II.

OCP- PLACE in Speech Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesLanguage and Speech, 2013
OCP-Place, a cross-linguistically well-attested constraint against pairs of consonants with shared [place], is psychologically real. Studies have shown that the processing of words violating OCP-Place is inhibited. Functionalists assume that OCP arises as a consequence of low-level perception: a consonant following another with the same [place] cannot ...

Transplacental transfer mechanism of organochlorine pesticides: An in vitro transcellular transport study

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2020
Recent studies show that, even after being banned for agricultural applications for over 30 years, organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), including hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs) and dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) and its metabolites (DDXs), can still ...

OCP Effects in Catalan Cliticization

open access: yesCatalan Journal of Linguistics, 2002
[eng] In Catalan, sequences of sibilants are never pronounced as such. In most contexts all varieties coincide in the «strategies» used to avoid these sequences, namely epenthesis or deletion. Variation is only found in the domain of pronominal clitics (but not with other types of clitics).
