Copolymerization and copolymers of styrene with dodecyl methacrylate and octadecyl methacrylate

1999
Styrene (St) was copolymerized with dodecyl methacrylate (DDMA) or octadecyl methacrylate (ODMA) in toluene using AIBN as free radical iinitiator over a wide composition and conversion ranges. The copolymer composition was determined from H-NMP spectra. The copolymerization reactivity ratios were determined. The Q and E values were also calculated. The

Solution properties of poly(octadecyl methacrylate) in butyl acetate, 2. Semidilute solution

Die Makromolekulare Chemie, 1991
AbstractSemidilute solutions of a fraction of poly(octadecyl methacrylate) (PODMA) obtained by radical‐initiated polymerization were investigated in the theta‐solvent butyl acetate (BuAc) with static and dynamic light scattering (SLS, DLS, resp.) at four different temperatures between 13°C (near theta‐temperature Θ) and 70°C.

Solution structure of a modified comb-like polymer from octadecyl methacrylate and acrylic acid

Chemical Physics Letters, 2001
Abstract A water soluble comb-like polymer from the statistical copolymer of acrylic acid and octadecyl methacrylate has been accomplished through transesterification reaction with methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) of molecular weight 5000. The high non-polar characteristics of microdomains as suggested from an higher I 3 / I 1 emission intensity ...

Synthesis of poly(n-octadecyl methacrylate-co-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) copolymer and their utilization as polymeric stabilizer in the preparation of PCL microspheres

Polymer Bulletin, 2016
Poly(n-octadecyl methacrylate-co-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) [poly(OMA-co-HEMA)] block copolymers were synthesized by free radical polymerization from n-octadecyl methacrylate (OMA) and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and these copolymers have been assessed as stabilizer in the preparation of polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres using non-aqueous ...

Synthesis and Visualization of Densely Grafted Molecular Brushes with Crystallizable Poly(octadecyl methacrylate) Block Segments

Macromolecules, 2003
Densely grafted molecular brushes with AB and ABA “block−graft” architectures, i.e., pODMA-b-p(BPEM-g-nBuA) and pODMA-b-p(BPEM-g-nBuA)-b-pODMA, were synthesized by the “grafting from” approach using atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The backbone macroinitiators were prepared in three steps.

Radiation‐induced solid‐state polymerization of derivatives of methacrylic acid. III. An electron spin resonance study of radical reactions in irradiated octadecyl methacrylate

Journal of Polymer Science Part A-1: Polymer Chemistry, 1969
AbstractThe electron spin resonance spectrum of gamma‐irradiated octadecyl methacrylate (m.p. ≈ 12°C.) was due to a mixture of three radicals formed by (1) loss of a hydrogen atom from the paraffin chain, (2) addition of a hydrogen atom to the double bond, and (3) addition of a monomer molecule to radicals formed by (1) or (2). On warming monomer added

Second-harmonic generation in Langmuir-Blodgett films of hemicyanine-poly(octadecyl methacrylate) and hemicyanine-behenic acid

Thin Solid Films, 1988
Abstract Second-harmonic generation (SHG) is used to probe the structure and order in monolayer and multilayer Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of highly polarizable dye molecules deposited on glass. Optical measurements on LB monolayers of hemicyanine-poly(octadecyl methacrylate) (PODMA) and hemicyanine-behenic acid mixtures in conjuction with data from

Molecular interaction and viscometric behavior of mixtures of polyolefin and poly(styrene- co -dodecyl methacrylate- co -octadecyl methacrylate) rheology modifiers in solution of lubricating base oil

Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry, 2017
Miscibility and rheological properties like kinematic viscosity at 40 °C and 100 °C, viscosity index, shear stability and pour point for solutions of polyolefin copolymer (OCP) and terpolymer poly(styrene-co-dodecyl methacrylate- co-octadecyl methacrylate) (PSAMA) in lubricating mineral oil are examined. Additives show complementary effect in which OCP
