Copolymerization and copolymers of styrene with dodecyl methacrylate and octadecyl methacrylate
1999Styrene (St) was copolymerized with dodecyl methacrylate (DDMA) or octadecyl methacrylate (ODMA) in toluene using AIBN as free radical iinitiator over a wide composition and conversion ranges. The copolymer composition was determined from H-NMP spectra. The copolymerization reactivity ratios were determined. The Q and E values were also calculated. The

Solution properties of poly(octadecyl methacrylate) in butyl acetate, 2. Semidilute solution
Die Makromolekulare Chemie, 1991AbstractSemidilute solutions of a fraction of poly(octadecyl methacrylate) (PODMA) obtained by radical‐initiated polymerization were investigated in the theta‐solvent butyl acetate (BuAc) with static and dynamic light scattering (SLS, DLS, resp.) at four different temperatures between 13°C (near theta‐temperature Θ) and 70°C.

Solution structure of a modified comb-like polymer from octadecyl methacrylate and acrylic acid
Chemical Physics Letters, 2001Abstract A water soluble comb-like polymer from the statistical copolymer of acrylic acid and octadecyl methacrylate has been accomplished through transesterification reaction with methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) of molecular weight 5000. The high non-polar characteristics of microdomains as suggested from an higher I 3 / I 1 emission intensity ...

Poly(n-octadecyl methacrylate-co-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) [poly(OMA-co-HEMA)] block copolymers were synthesized by free radical polymerization from n-octadecyl methacrylate (OMA) and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and these copolymers have been assessed as stabilizer in the preparation of polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres using non-aqueous ...

Densely grafted molecular brushes with AB and ABA “block−graft” architectures, i.e., pODMA-b-p(BPEM-g-nBuA) and pODMA-b-p(BPEM-g-nBuA)-b-pODMA, were synthesized by the “grafting from” approach using atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The backbone macroinitiators were prepared in three steps.

AbstractThe electron spin resonance spectrum of gamma‐irradiated octadecyl methacrylate (m.p. ≈ 12°C.) was due to a mixture of three radicals formed by (1) loss of a hydrogen atom from the paraffin chain, (2) addition of a hydrogen atom to the double bond, and (3) addition of a monomer molecule to radicals formed by (1) or (2). On warming monomer added
