Fabrication and properties of poly(polyethylene glycol octadecyl ether methacrylate)
Thermochimica Acta, 2013Abstract Polyethylene glycol octadecyl ether methacrylate (C18E2MMA) was synthesized using polyethylene glycol octadecyl ether (C18E2) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) as raw materials. Then it was free radical polymerized to form a comb-like polymeric phase change material (PPCM)-poly(polyethylene glycol octadecyl ether methacrylate) (poly(C18E2MMA ...

Albumin-scavenging surfaces decorated with n-alkyl chains represent an established strategy for blood-contacting applications. To evaluate this concept, a set of poly (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (pHEMA) films modified with different amounts of octadecyl isocyanate (C18) was investigated in an in vitro hemocompatibility assay using freshly drawn human

On the crystallization behavior of frustrated alkyl groups in poly(n-octadecyl methacrylate)
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2006The side chain crystallization of poly(n-octadecyl methacrylate) (PODMA) homopolymers with different molecular weight as well as small lamellar and cylindrical PODMA domains in microphase-separated poly(styrene-b-octadecyl methacrylate) block copolymers is studied by calorimetry and scattering techniques.

Abstract Octadecyl methacrylate (ODMA) was deposited in the presence of red-hot wolfram filament. It was found that radical-initiated polymerization of ODMA occurred during its deposition. The polymer yield increased in conditions of high filament temperature, low deposition rate and high substrate temperature.

Crystallization in poly(n‐octadecyl methacrylate) monolayers
Journal of Polymer Science Part A-2: Polymer Physics, 1966AbstractThe crystallization kinetics of poly(n‐octadecyl methacrylate) has been studied at the air–water interface. The rate of the crystallization has been measured by the decrease in the area of monolayers with time at various temperatures and surface pressures. The crystallization isotherms have been analyzed by the general mathematical treatment of

Synthesis and solution properties of comblike polymers from octadecyl methacrylate and acrylic acid
Colloid and Polymer Science, 2002Amphiphilic polymers consisting of a statistical distribution of octadecyl methacrylate (ODMA) and acrylic acid in respective molar ratios of 83–22 and 17–78 mol% and in a molecular-weight range of 2.35–4.70×104 gmol–1 have been synthesized. The series of polymers consisting of various mole fractions of ODMA and acrylic acid are expected to exhibit ...

Supercooling of micro- and nanoencapsulated phase change material is widely observed as their diameters depress to a limitation upon cooling. The aim of this study is to suppress the supercooling of nanoencapsulated n-octadecane (NanoC18) using a novel copolymer consisting of long n-alkyl side chains as shell.

AbstractIn order to elucidate some of the parameters controlling the transfer of compressed monomolecular layers of preformed poly(octadecyl methacrylate)s (PODMA) onto substrates by the so‐called Langmuir‐Blodgett technique, an investigation was undertaken of PODMA's of different tacticity and different molecular weights.
