Estimating pathogen‐spillover risk using host–ectoparasite interactions
Understanding the interacting factors that lead to pathogen transmission in a zoonotic cycle could help identify novel hosts of pathogens and the patterns that lead to disease emergence. We use parasite ecology, phylogenetics, and geography to predict known and unknown hosts of hantavirus.

Spatial patterning of prey at reproduction to reduce predation risk: what drives dispersion from groups? [PDF]
Group living is a widespread behavior thought to be an evolutionary adaptation for reducing predation risk. Many group-living species, however, spend a portion of their life cycle as dispersed individuals, suggesting that the costs and benefits of these ...

Music preference in degus (Octodon degus): Analysis with Chilean folk music.

Transcription factor NFE2L2/NRF2 is a regulator of macroautophagy genes [PDF]
Autophagy is a highly coordinated process that is controlled at several levels including transcriptional regulation. Here, we identify the transcription factor NFE2L2/NRF2 (nuclear factor, erythroid 2 like 2) as a regulator of autophagy gene expression ...

The central circadian pacemaker (Suprachiasmatic Nuclei, SCN) maintains the phase relationship with the external world thanks to the light/dark cycle. Light intensity, spectra, and timing are important for SCN synchronisation.
