ABSTRACT Background/Objectives To estimate the lifetime and point prevalence of alopecia areata (AA) among Australians aged ≥ 15 years. Methods A cross‐sectional survey was conducted from August to September 2024 in a quota‐balanced sample of the Australian population, aged ≥ 12 years (exploratory objective included participants aged 12–14 years ...

Abstract Purpose To compare retinal vessel oxygen saturations and diameters before, 1 and 3 months after trabeculectomy. Methods Retinal oxygen saturations and vessel diameters were obtained using retinal oximetry. The effect of the postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) decrease on the arteriovenous difference (AV‐difference) was evaluated ...

Abstract Purpose To investigate the diagnostic performance of ultrasound, 2‐deoxy‐2‐[18F]fluoro‐D‐glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (2‐[18F]FDG PET/CT) and temporal artery biopsy (TAB) in giant cell arteritis (GCA). Methods This was a prospective single‐centre diagnostic accuracy study (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT05248906).

Implications of the Tongue's Anatomy and Biomechanics for Breastfeeding
ABSTRACT Aim The human tongue is a major player for breathing, swallowing, sucking, chewing and speech. Breastfeeding is the initial training for its subsequent tasks. Thus, we aimed to explore the tongue's anatomy and biomechanics with conclusions on breastfeeding, essential for healthy development.

TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT IN MAURITANIAN CEPHALOPOD FISHERIES [PDF]
If the technology in a multi-species fishery is such that there is jointness in inputs and non-separability between inputs and outputs, then management on a species-by-species basis may lead to unintended outcomes, including over-exploitation of the ...

Computing Skinning Weights via Convex Duality
We present an alternate optimization method to compute bounded biharmonic skinning weights. Our method relies on a dual formulation, which can be optimized with a nonnegative linear least squares setup. Abstract We study the problem of optimising for skinning weights through the lens of convex duality.

Controllable Intrinsic Surface Pattern Generation Using Slime Mold Simulations
Abstract Surface‐based pattern simulations have proven valuable for texture design and scientific visualization, but existing methods face several limitations. Most simulations either target a narrow range of pattern types (e.g. spots, branching) or support a broad range of patterns at the cost of time‐consuming parameter tuning.

Fast Injective Mesh Parameterization via Beltrami Coefficient Prolongation
Abstract We present a highly efficient and robust method for free boundary injective parameterization of disk‐like triangle meshes with low isometric distortion. Harmonic function–based approaches, grounded in a strong mathematical framework, are widely employed.
