Pinwheel stabilization by ocular dominance segregation [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 102, 208101 (2009), 2008
We present an analytical approach for studying the coupled development of ocular dominance and orientation preference columns. Using this approach we demonstrate that ocular dominance segregation can induce the stabilization and even the production of pinwheels by their crystallization in two types of periodic lattices. Pinwheel crystallization depends

Supervised machine learning based multi-task artificial intelligence classification of retinopathies [PDF]

open access: yeshttps://www.mdpi.com/2077-0383/8/6/872, 2019
Artificial intelligence (AI) classification holds promise as a novel and affordable screening tool for clinical management of ocular diseases. Rural and underserved areas, which suffer from lack of access to experienced ophthalmologists may particularly benefit from this technology.

Ocular Drug Delivery: a Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAAPS PharmSciTech, 2023
The human eye is a sophisticated organ with distinctive anatomy and physiology that hinders the passage of drugs into targeted ophthalmic sites. Effective topical administration is an interest of scientists for many decades. Their difficult mission is to

Nanotechnology-based ocular drug delivery systems: recent advances and future prospects

open access: yesJournal of Nanobiotechnology, 2023
Ocular drug delivery has constantly challenged ophthalmologists and drug delivery scientists due to various anatomical and physiological barriers. Static and dynamic ocular barriers prevent the entry of exogenous substances and impede therapeutic agents'

Ocular pharmacology [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 2015
AbstractOphthalmic diseases include both those analogous to systemic diseases (eg, inflammation, infection, neuronal degeneration) and not analogous (eg, cataract, myopia). Many anterior segment diseases are treated pharmacologically through eye drops, which have an implied therapeutic index of local therapy.
