Blood-ocular barrier permeability in experimental myopia.

Journal francais d'ophtalmologie, 1991
Vitreous fluorophotometry (VFP) was performed for myopic eyes induced by unilateral eyelid suturing of six young cynomolgus monkeys in order to study the permeability of the blood-ocular barrier. The eyelid fusion was temporarily cut and opened at about five-month intervals, and the dioptric power and axial length of test and control eyes were measured.

Ocular vascular and epithelial barriers to microperoxidase.

Investigative ophthalmology, 1975
Microperoxidase (MP) is an ultrastructural tracer of small molecular weight (1,900) derived from horse heart cytochrome c. Within the central nervous system, it is capable of entering the periaxonal space which is not open to horseradish peroxidase (HPR). Because of its small size and unique behavior, MP was used to probe ocular vascular and epithelial

Drug Transport Across Blood-Ocular Barriers and Pharmacokinetics

2016
Systemically administered drugs do not reach or have limited diffusion into the eye due to the presence of various ocular barriers. Therefore, intravitreal, intracameral, subconjunctival and sub-tenon routes are the preferred options for directly injecting drugs to into the eyes or ocular structures.
