Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials in practice: Methods, pitfalls and clinical applications
Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) are a useful and increasingly popular component of the neuro-otology test battery. These otolith-dependent reflexes are produced by stimulating the ears with air-conducted sound or skull vibration and ...

Enhancing the accuracy in diagnosing Peripheral vestibular disorders [PDF]
Peripheral vestibular disorder (PVD) is serious and common. Clinically, giving an accurate diagnosis of PVD can be challenging. Without the appropriate diagnosis, clinicians are not able to provide proper management for patients.

An animal model of ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential in guinea pigs
This study aimed to establish an animal model of ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP) in guinea pigs. Ten healthy and 10 gentamicin-treated guinea pigs underwent oVEMP test using a hand-held bone-conducted vibrator placed on the animal's forehead. All 10 healthy animals exhibited bilateral oVEMPs at the stimulus intensity of 139 dB force

Functional Imaging of Human Vestibular Cortex Activity Elicited by Skull Tap and Auditory Tone Burst [PDF]
The current study characterizes brain activation in response to two modes of vestibular stimulation: skull tap and auditory tone burst. The auditory tone burst has been used in previous studies to elicit either the vestibulo-spinal reflex (saccular ...
