Mathematical modeling of the spread of the coronavirus under strict social restrictions

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView., 2021
We formulate a simple susceptible‐infectious‐recovery (SIR) model to describe the spread of the coronavirus under strict social restrictions. The transmission rate in this model is exponentially decreasing with time. We find a formula for basic reproduction function and estimate the maximum number of daily infected individuals.

HORACE ON HORACE ODES 4

open access: yesAkroterion, 2012
Horace’s fourth Book of Odes was published in 13 B.C.1 Ten years had passed since the publication of Odes 1-3. In Epistles 1.1.4 published 7 years before Odes 4 Horace already indicated that for him neither age nor mind was the same (non eadem est aetas,

Hybrid modeling for optimizing cell cultivation in mAb production using a small‐scale automated experimental platform

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This work presents the optimization of cell cultivation for monoclonal antibody (mAb) production. We developed a hybrid model describing the effects of multiple process variables on antibody productivity and impurity generation. An automated platform with 12 × 250 mL bioreactors was set up.

Influence of various criteria on identifying the springtime tropospheric ozone depletion events (ODEs)at Utqiaġvik, Arctic [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics
Tropospheric ozone depletion events (ODEs) occurring in the Arctic spring are a unique photochemical phenomenon in which the boundary layer ozone drops rapidly to near-zero levels.

Od Redakcji

open access: yesStudia Etnologiczne i Antropologiczne, 2018
"W tym szczególnym czasie głębokich zmian obejmujących szkolnictwo wyższe i naukę oddajemy w ręce Czytelników osiemnasty i z wielu względów wyjątkowy tom „Studiów Etnologicznych i Antropologicznych”. Znalazły się w nim artykuły dotyczące różnych obszarów badań, a lista Autorów i wielojęzyczność czasopisma potwierdzają, że utrzymuje ono swój szeroki ...

Experimental validation of the RESPONSE framework against cyberattacks on cyber‐physical process systems

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This work experimentally validates the RESPONSE (Resilient Process cONtrol SystEm) framework as a solution for maintaining safe, continuous operation of cyber‐physical process systems under cyberattacks. RESPONSE implements a dual‐loop architecture that runs a networked online controller in parallel with a hard‐isolated offline controller ...

Monitoring and control of a continuous, integrated filtration‐drying system with in‐line mass spectrometry via PharmaPy

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This article demonstrates the integration of in‐line mass spectrometry as a process analytical technology (PAT) tool with model‐based soft sensors in a continuous filtration‐drying carousel system for solid–liquid separation (SLS) of crystal slurries.

Sequential Monte Carlo with likelihood tempering and parallel implementation for uncertainty quantification

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Bayesian estimation enables uncertainty quantification, but analytical implementation is often intractable. As an approximate approach, the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is widely used, though it entails a high computational cost due to frequent evaluations of the likelihood function.

Improving neural ordinary differential equations via knowledge distillation

open access: yesIET Computer Vision
Neural ordinary differential equations (ODEs) (Neural ODEs) construct the continuous dynamics of hidden units using ODEs specified by a neural network, demonstrating promising results on many tasks. However, Neural ODEs still do not perform well on image
