Red cell life span of white-tailed deer Odocoileus virginianus

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology, 1966
Abstract 1. 1. The red cell survival of white-tailed deer as measured with DFP 32 is similar to that seen in the sheep and human, with destruction by senescence after a period of approximately 125 days. 2. 2. Under the environmental conditions of our experiment, there did not appear to be any deleterious effect on red cell survival due to ...

EFFECTS OF FLUORIDE INGESTION ON WHITE-TAILED DEER (ODOCOILEUS VIRGINIANUS)

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1985
The effects of the addition of 25 or 50 ppm fluoride (F), as sodium fluoride (NaF), to the rations of 5-mo-old male white-tailed deer were similar to those observed in domestic cattle fed similar amounts of fluoride. The ingestion of 50 ppm F for 2 yr resulted in the accumulation of over 7,000 ppm F in bone ash.

Lymphangioma in the White-Tailed Deer, Odocoileus virginianus

Journal of Mammalogy, 1956
Diseases of wildlife are increasing in incidence, thus creating a problem of diagnosis and control. Many parasites are known to infest wild animals and although the literature contains many surveys of parasites affecting these animals, few studies of other disease problems can be found, except for zoo animals.

Novel hemotropic Mycoplasma species in white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus)

Comparative Immunology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, 2013
Globally, hemotropic Mycoplasma spp. are emerging or re-emerging zoonotic pathogens that affect livestock, wildlife, companion animals, and humans, potentially causing serious and economically important disease problems. Little is known about hemotropic Mycoplasma spp.

Parasites of the whitetail deer (odocoileus virginianus ochrourus).

2011
This study was undertaken to determine the parasite complex of the whitetail deer of British Columbia, the frequency of these parasites, and the factors influencing parasitism of these deer. An examination of 69 whitetail deer and 7 mule deer was made for the presence of ectoparasites and endoparasites.
