Identificação de loci microssatélitescom potencial de amplificação na espécie de Peixe-Rei (Odontesthes humensis)

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2014
In this work, 25,806 potentially amplifiable microsatellite loci (PAL) were identified in pejerrey, (Odontesthes humensis), with 21% of dinucleotide, 22% trinucleotide, 37% tetranucleotide, 13% pentanucleotide and 7% hexanucleotide.

Cross-amplification of microsatellites from the Atherinopsidae Odontesthes perugiae and Odontesthes argentinensis to Chilean silversides of the genus Odontesthes and Basilichthys Amplificación cruzada de microsatélites de los Atherinopsidae Odontesthes perugiae y Odontesthes argentinensis en pejerreyes chilenos del género Odontesthes y Basilichthys

open access: yesGayana, 2011
We tested the amplification potential of 8 microsatellites initially described for Odontesthes perugiae and O. argentinensis in 3 species of Odontesthes and 4 species of Basilichthys.

The significance of cortisol on acclimation to salinity in pejerrey Odontesthes bonariensis Importância do cortisol na aclimatação a salinidade em peixe-rei Odontesthes bonariensis [PDF]

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2007
The role of cortisol on the osmoregulation of pejerrey Odontesthes bonariensis at different salinities was investigated in adult fish injected with 0.7mg hydrocortisone per 100g body weight of fish, and transferred to 0, 5 and 20ppt of NaCl.

Main diseases of pejerrey (Odontesthes bonariensis) in central Argentina Principais enfermidades do peixe-rei (Odontesthes bonariensis) registradas na Argentina Central [PDF]

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira, 2006
Argentina's central region includes an important area covered by shallow pampean lakes and dams. In these environments, fishing of pejerrey Odontesthes bonariensis Valenciennes, 1835 (Pisces, Atherinopsidae), the most important fresh-water fish of the ...

Dietary phosphorus requirement of pejerrey fingerlings (Odontesthes bonariensis) [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2014
To determine the available phosphorus requirement of pejerrey fish, four semi-purified diets were formulated to contain increasing available phosphorus levels (0.90, 2.7, 5.7 and 8.3 g/kg).

Pejerrey (Odontesthes bonariensis) Under Siege: Main Infectious Diseases and Their Role in Aquaculture and Wild Populations Amidst Environmental Change. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Fish Dis
ABSTRACT The pejerrey (Odontesthes bonariensis) is a key species for recreational and commercial fisheries in Argentina and holds significant aquaculture potential. It has been introduced to various countries worldwide, including Japan, where intensive aquaculture has developed.

Foraging Observations: Novel Trophic Interactions Between the Andean Gull (<i>Chroicocephalus serrranus</i>) and Endangered Vertebrates of Lake Titicaca. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
We show that the Andean gull predates on both the Titicaca Grebe and the Titicaca Giant Frog. Both these species are critically endangered, and it was unknown that they had natural predators before this. ABSTRACT We record two new predation events and one new kleptoparasitic Andean Gull (Chroicocephalus serranus) behavior, interactions that directly ...

Shearing Tooth Morphology May Allow Sharks to Access Higher Trophic Levels at Smaller Sizes. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Predator morphology imposes limitations on prey selection due to biomechanical constraints, making some prey functionally inaccessible and thereby constraining predator trophic niches. We assessed how two key components of trophic morphology—tooth shape and body size—affect prey selectivity and trophic niche in two sympatric sharks with contrasting ...

Diets of Three Sympatric Grebe Species in Lake Titicaca Indicate Possible Dietary Niche Partitioning. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Lake Titicaca is home to three grebe species whose diets have not been thoroughly studied. In this natural history note, we provide the first description of the diets of these species and how they overlap and differentiate. ABSTRACT Dietary niche partitioning is a fundamental process in community ecology, of interest to both conservationists and ...
