Advanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.The unique combination of photophysical properties for π‐expanded 1,4‐dihydropyrrolo[3,2‐b]pyrroles (DHPPs) can be reached via a new synthetic approach. π‐Expanded DHPPs possessing electron‐withdrawing functionalities with emission reaching 700 nm, as well as large double helical systems were prepared and investigated.
