A Circuit of Mechanically Regulated Transcription Factors Balances Regenerative and Fibrotic Memory of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Producing MSCs on rigid culture substrates induces a scar‐making phenotype, jeapordizing therapeutic success. ‘Tissue‐soft’ surfaces prevent MSC fibrogenesis and preserve regenerative traits. An epigenetic network, driven by HOXA11 and SALL1, maintains ‘soft memory’ by keeping chromatin open in relaxed MSCs, promoting anti‐fibrotic programs.

A Mitochondrial Odyssey [PDF]

open access: yesAnnual Review of Biochemistry, 2012
Good fortune let me be an innocent child during World War II, a hopeful adolescent with encouraging parents during the years of German recovery, and a self-determined adult in a period of peace, freedom, and wealth. My luck continued as a scientist who could entirely follow his fancy. My mind was always set on understanding how things are made.

Species Dependent Toxicity Comparison Outcome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By quantitatively assessing and comparing toxicity responses across different animal species and material compositions, our data reveal that toxicity rankings among different materials may be reversed across species. ABSTRACT Toxicity comparison plays a crucial role in material selection across diverse application fields.

Secreted Nonstructural Protein 3 is a Pathogenic Determinant of Orbivirus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a conserved PIP2‐dependent secretory pathway of orbivirus NS3 that induces vascular leakage. Pharmacological disruption of PIP2‐NS3 interaction significantly reduces viral pathogenicity and provides protective efficacy in murine models, establishing PIP2‐mediated NS3 secretion as both a key virulence determinant and a promising ...

The Necessity of Dynamic Workflow Managers for Advancing Self‐Driving Labs and Optimizers

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We assess the maturity and integration readiness of key methodologies for Materials Acceleration Platforms, highlighting the need for dynamic workflow managers. Demonstrating this, we integrate PerQueue into a color‐mixing robot, showing how flexible orchestration improves coordination and optimization.

Rapid Genome and Exome Sequencing in Inpatients: Clinical Impact at a Tertiary Academic Medical Center

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study is to describe outcomes of rapid exome (rES) and rapid genome sequencing (rGS) in an inpatient setting. This is a retrospective cohort of inpatients with rES or rGS during their hospitalization between April 2016 and November 2023.

A Unified Formulation of Quasi‐Geostrophic and Shallow Water Equations via Projection

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
This paper introduces a unified model for layered rotating shallow‐water (RSW) and quasi‐geostrophic (QG) equations, based on the intrinsic relationship between these two sets of equations.
