Effect of omega‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acid supplementation on oxidative stress parameters and sex hormone levels of modern genotype sows

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, 2023
Background Sows are exposed to severe stress and hormonal challenges during their whole productive life. As polyunsaturated fatty acids play an important role in immune and reproductive functions, with a better understanding of their role in breeding ...

Cancer‐associated mutations in endometriosis reframe a benign disease through molecular oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review aims to comprehensively analyse cancer‐associated somatic mutations (CAMs) present in endometriotic lesions, emphasizing their biological roles, spatial distribution and implications for translational applications in medicine. By contextualizing a benign state within a genomic framework, this analysis seeks to establish its value as a ...

Catamenial cyclic vomiting syndrome responding to oestrogen therapy: an adolescent case report

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2019
Cyclic vomiting syndrome (CVS) is defined by episodes of vomiting lasting from a few hours to several days, alternating with periods of no symptoms. Various symptoms can be associated with vomiting such as nausea, migraine or abdominal pain.

CEACAM1 participation in breast cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In invasive breast cancer (BC), CEACAM1 shifts from an apical to a uniform membranous/cytoplasmic pattern, or is lost, as tumors dedifferentiate, inversely tracking the Ki‐67 proliferative index. In MCF‐7 cells, only CEACAM1‐4L suppresses proliferation, repressing cell cycle and growth factor genes.

Molecular features of luminal breast cancer defined through spatial and single‐cell transcriptomics

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine
Background Intratumour heterogeneity is a hallmark of most solid tumours, including breast cancers. We applied spatial transcriptomics and single‐cell RNA‐sequencing on patient‐derived xenografts (PDXs) to profile spatially resolved cell populations ...

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

Oestrogen regulation of NKCC1, NHERF3 and ENaC-B in oestrogen-dependent breast cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
PhD ThesisOestrogen plays a major role in the development and progression of oestrogen receptor-positive breast cancers. Previously, a set of nineteen oestrogen-regulated genes was identified in oestrogen-responsive breast cancer cells. Seventeen were
