Wastewater treatment from a typical multisystem hospital using chemically modified banana peels: Taguchi parametric optimization and characterization

open access: yesApplied Water Science
The study aims to develop an eco-friendly solution for addressing contaminants in hospital wastewater. To achieve this, banana peel, a cost-effective and easily available agricultural waste, was chemically modified using sulfuric acid and sodium ...

Surface Engineering of Ceramic Nanomaterials for Separation of Oil/Water Mixtures

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
Oil/water mixtures are a potentially major source of environmental pollution if efficient separation technology is not employed during processing. A large volume of oil/water mixtures is produced via many manufacturing operations in food, petrochemical ...

Continuous and efficient oil/water separation by special wettability granular filter media

open access: yesWater Reuse, 2022
To improve the separation efficiency of the oil/water mixture and simplify the separation process, a superhydrophilic/underwater superoleophobic quartz sand filter media (PR@QS) was prepared by coating potato residue onto the quartz sand surface, and an ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Use of bamboo fiber in oil water separation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
One of the environmental issues facing the society is the separation of oil from water in emulsions. Oily wastewater enters into the environment through many ways such as oil spill as well as from the industry.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Research of novel process route and scale-up based on oil-water separation flotation column

open access: yesJournal of Water Reuse and Desalination, 2018
A novel process ‘coalescence-airflotation-carrier preferential adsorption’ utilising an oil-water separation flotation column with a unique structure was used in the oil-water separation field.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
